1st Annual CSCE popsicle stick bridge competition at U of R (2013)

Date: March 21st, 2013 (Thursday); 3:00~6:00 pm

Objective: To design a bridge from 100 Popsicle sticks with the highest possible load capacity to weight ratio that also meets the required specifications for its geometry.

2013 RESULTS:

First place overall ($300):

Team 3 - "Toma". Max load: 417 N, Load-to-weight ratio: 4.72

Second place ($200):

Team 1 - "Shockwave Hurricanes". Max load: 639 N, Load-to-weight ratio: 4.65

Third place ($100):

Team 7 - "Mashed Potatoes & Carrots". Max load: 596 N, Load-to-weight ratio: 4.34
