Congratulations to the 2024 Chancellor’s Community Scholarship and Fellowship recipients

This fall, fourteen high-achieving undergraduate students from across Saskatchewan, as well as Manitoba and British Columbia, will be calling the U of R home as they begin their academic journeys with us on full-ride scholarships, plus on-campus housing for their first year. The Chancellor’s Scholarships are worth $40,000 each and include leadership programming, mentoring, and more, all thanks to the vision and generosity of the Chancellor’s Community members.

“The Chancellor’s Community will make an incredible difference in the lives of well-deserving students during their academic journeys at the U of R,” says Pam Klein, University of Regina Chancellor. “These scholarships and fellowships are a vital part of developing some of the brightest minds, leaders, and innovators for generations to come.”

Anneka McLaren, who is graduating from École Thom Collegiate High School, received a Chancellor’s Scholarship and will be pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry through the U of R’s Campion College this fall.

“This scholarship has changed my life in such a huge way and solidified my decision to stay in Regina where I can be a part of this welcoming community of students and faculty members,” says McLaren. “I attended a Chancellor’s Community dinner in April, which has made me extremely excited to be a part of that community as well. I cannot wait to make many more meaningful connections through the community and attend future events that incite important conversation.”

In addition, the U of R Chancellor’s Community has supported two $25,000 fellowships which are offered annually to graduate students to help them pursue their groundbreaking research, leadership experience, and community outreach. The graduate fellows selected for fall 2024 are Johnna Parenteau and Nastaran Radmehr.

“Each of these amazing undergraduate and graduate students has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and commitment to making a positive difference in our world,” says Dr. Jeff Keshen, President and Vice-Chancellor of the U of R. “I am proud to welcome all of them to the University of Regina. They are strengthening our university and wider provincial communities, and I look forward to seeing the many great things they will achieve – both during their studies here, and after they graduate.”

The Chancellor’s Community was established by Chancellor Pam Klein to create a philanthropic network of leaders from business, academia, and the community who are dedicated to transforming the lives of talented U of R students through education and empowering the next generation of leaders.
