Althought the schedule said we were the away team, the Barneys were sure that we were the home team. So after putting down the bases (at 18 paces) the Sluggers took to the field. We let the first two innings get away on defense yielding 5 and 6 runs respectively. However the Barneys had some power on the left hand side of the plate which was always a threat. We really shut them down for the middle four innings and made the needed outs in the top of the seventh.
On offense our bats were silent for most of the night, but I expect this will improve with more reps. If anyone is interested in a "scrub" game to help tune up send an email noting your interest. Our next game is the BIG ONE ... "The Naturals" -- the team EVERYONE wants to play. So if you only make one game a year, this is it. We've always played them close even when they've written us off in the 2nd inning. So in that spirit lets show them what we're made of ... see you on Tuesday.
