Class Expectations and Preparation
Find Your Classes
One key factor to success is knowing where your classes are! Once your class schedule is finalized, utilize campus maps and navigation resources to discover what buildings your classes are in!
Once you arrive on campus, make sure to arrange time to walk around and get to know the environment. Request a campus tour, or join one at Orientation, to learn exactly where your classes are and map out the routes you'll take each day.
Important Tip: Walk around to each building and see how long it takes to get from one end of campus to the other. If you aren't careful, you might see yourself running to make it to your next class on time!
Develop Your Class Preparation Skills
During Class: This time will be spent listening to lectures, taking quality notes, listening intentionally and participating in class discussions. This is your opportunity to occasionally ask questions or briefly chat with your instructor after class about the course content. If your question is more in depth, save it and book an appointment with your instructor during their office hours!
After Class: It's important to set time aside after class to review and organize your notes. This is your opportunity to fill in any details while the content is still fresh in your mind, as well as email or communicate with your professor for additional clarification or questions.
Preparing for Next Class: Go over what your professor or instructor has asked you to do before next class. This might be written homework, responses, drafts of assignments, completing readings, and other outside-of-class work. Make sure to manage your time effectively and prioritize your homework.

Professional Communication and Practices
Our campus community strives to offer the highest level of support to you! This means that we will do thorough work to determine the best solution and information to provide you, but we need your help with this. We ask that you determine the urgency of your request and utilize the best channel to receive support. This might mean visiting the front desk of an office, sending a detailed email, or booking an appointment with an advisor. In any setting, please take the following into consideration:
Connecting with Faculty and Staff
Whether you decide to call, visit in person, or send us an email, it's important that you provide all necessary and relevant information. Include your name, student ID, and then present any information that will help us to help you. This could be mentioning what class you're in, what barriers you're facing, and what you're seeking to learn or accomplish. In any format of communication, it's important to make sure we have your updated contact information so we can get back to you as soon as we can.
Office Hours and Hours of Operation
You may see us walking through the hallways or around Regina from time to time. It's important to understand that our faculty and staff may have set office hours in which they can provide support. Outside of office hours, we may not have the resources to help you, so make sure to take note of when offices and units are open and plan your visit or communication during those times.
Appointments and Punctuality
In some circumstances, you may have to book an appointment with a faculty or staff member on campus. This is so we can review your situation in detail and provide the best support we can, but it may take some time before we can meet with you and we may ask that you review information packages or other details prior to your appointment time. To ensure your appointment goes smoothly, make sure to read and follow any instructions carefully and come prepared, and on time, to your appointment.
