International Agreement Types
We are dedicated to managing various international academic agreements that facilitate global collaborations. These agreements include Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), Student Exchange Program Agreements (SEPAs), Articulation Program Agreements, International Study Tour Agreements, Practicum and Internship Agreements, and more. Our approach ensures that each partnership aligns with the University of Regina's strategic goals, maintains high standards of academic integrity, and maximizes benefits for all parties involved.
Below, you will find a brief overview of the different types of agreements we manage.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) formalizes the partnership between the University of Regina and its partner institutions. It outlines the terms and conditions of the collaboration, facilitating activities such as joint educational and research initiatives, faculty and staff mobility, and visiting undergraduate and graduate research students. An MOU establishes a comprehensive framework for further cooperation, paving the way for more specific agreements and joint initiatives in various academic and research fields.
A Student Exchange Program Agreement (SEPA) is a formal partnership between the University of Regina and a partner institution that allows students to study abroad at the partner institution for a specific period. This agreement facilitates the exchange of students between institutions, offering them the opportunity to immerse themselves in diverse academic and cultural environments, broaden their perspectives, and advance their academic and professional development.
An Articulation Program Agreement is a formal agreement between the University of Regina and a partner institution, typically involving specific faculties and departments. This agreement facilitates the transfer of credits and academic recognition for students. By engaging the relevant faculties and departments, the agreement ensures that academic standards are maintained, providing students with a smooth transition as they advance their education. Articulation Program Agreements are designed to foster academic collaboration and create clear pathways for students to achieve their educational goals.
An International Study Tour Agreement outlines the terms and conditions for organizing and conducting a short-term academic program abroad. It typically involves students and faculty from one institution traveling to another country for educational purposes, ranging from a few days to several weeks. This agreement ensures a smooth, well-coordinated, and academically enriching experience for all participants.
A Practicum and Internship Placement Agreement formalizes the terms for placing students in professional settings to gain practical experience. It ensures that students acquire valuable hands-on experience in a professional environment while fulfilling the academic requirements of their program, such as those in our Justice Studies program within the Faculty of Arts, Nursing programs, and Social Work programs.
Other agreements may include programs such as visiting scholars, joint research initiatives, and more. A Visiting Scholars Agreement enables faculty members or researchers from partner institutions to participate in teaching, research, and knowledge exchange. Meanwhile, a Joint Research Initiatives Agreement facilitates collaboration between institutions on projects and research fields of mutual interest, fostering academic cooperation and advancing shared research goals.
