Next Steps Checklist
Congratulations on your offer of admission!
As an international undergraduate student, you may be wondering what your next steps should be after receiving your acceptance letter. We are here to help! Please review the handy checklist below to help you navigate the steps between being accepted to arriving in Regina.
Start Here
As a newly admitted U of R student, we ask that you accept your offer of admission to confirm your spot in your program. The link to your Reply to Offer form can be found in your student application portal checklist. Thank you for accepting your offer!
Undergraduate international students on a study permit are required to pay a $1,000.00 CAD tuition deposit upon acceptance of admission. The terms of the deposit are as follows:
- Class registration cannot proceed for new students who have been offered admission until payment of the deposit is received.
- The deposit may be transferred between terms for the period the admission offer is valid.
- 100% of the tuition deposit is applied toward tuition and fees.
- The deposit is non-refundable.
Please pay your tuition deposit through your student application portal by credit card or Flywire.
All students have their own U of R email address! Your university email is where all official U of R communications are sent while you are a student. As a new student, you will need to find your username and activate your account.
Students are required to have a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) before applying for a study permit. Once you are fully accepted, and have replied to your offer and paid your tuition deposit, you will be eligible for the U of R to request your PAL from the Government of Saskatchewan. The province will then issue your PAL through the MyCreds platform.
After you have paid your tuition deposit, ensure that you login, and have access to, your uregina email account. You will be notified by email to your uregina email account when your PAL is available to download from MyCreds.
Once you receive your Provincial Attestation Letter and tuition deposit confirmation, you can apply for your study permit from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). It is recommended to apply for a study permit well in advance of your intended start date.
For more information about applying for a study permit, please visit the IRCC website.

International undergraduate students are required to register in a minimum of 9 credit hours (3 classes) in their first term.
After you have fully registered in classes for your first term, you will need to request your Confirmation of Enrolment document through UR Self Service. This document is official confirmation that you are a registered student at the University of Regina, and you may be asked for this document by the border officer when you enter Canada.
Follow these steps to request the Confirmation of Enrolment.
Living on campus is the best way to meet new people and get involved in university life. You can choose your preferred type of accommodation and even request to live with a friend! For more information and to apply, visit our Housing Services page!
High School Students: If you are finishing high school this year, we will need your final official transcript showing your final grades before you start classes. You can submit the transcript through your Student Application Portal.
Post-Secondary Transfer Students: If you are currently completing classes at another post-secondary institution, your final official transcripts must be submitted after the courses are completed. All post-secondary transcripts will need to be provided directly from the institution either in digital format from the school registrar's official email address or in a sealed envelope, mailed to our office directly from the institution.
Travel and Arrival
Communicate your travel plan to International.StudentServices@uregina.ca at least 2 weeks before your arrival. We recommend arriving 1-2 weeks before the start of classes so you have time to get settled. Ensure you bring all of your important required documents with you, including but not limited to:
- Passport with Student Visa
- Letter of Introduction
- Confirmation of Enrolment
- Valid U of R Acceptance Letter
- Original Academic Transcripts
- Provincial Attestation Letter
Your study permit will be issued by the border officer at your first port of entry when you enter Canada.
You will arrive at the Regina International Airport (YQR). Ensure you have some Canadian cash or a credit card to pay for a taxi or Uber to your accommodation. Dress for the weather when you arrive and keep an eye out for our Airport Welcome Booth available a week before each term starts!
At orientation, you will learn how to navigate the University, how to access support services, the next steps you should take, and how to maintain your academic and immigration status in Canada. We also have the fun stuff covered with free food, cultural performances, and more! Make sure to register before you arrive in Regina and plan your travels accordingly so you do not miss out on this important event! Register for orientation.
To remain registered in your first term, you will need to provide a copy of your immigration documents to UR International by the specified deadline. The deadline will vary each term but will usually be by the second week of classes. If you do not submit a copy of your Study Permit by the deadline, you will be withdrawn from your classes.
Please submit a copy of your Letter of Introduction, Study Permit, and Student Visa.
You can submit your documents by email to International.StudentServices@uregina.ca or in person at College West 109.
