Social Insurance Number (SIN) Application Clinic

What is a Social Insurance Number (SIN)?
It's a 9-digit number that allows eligible international students to work in Caanda, gain access to government programs and benefits, and file taxes. All individuals who work are required to have a valid SIN.

International students who hold valid Study Permits and who meet the conditions to work in Canada must have a SIN from Service Canada in order to work and / or to receive benefits and services from government programs.

The University of Regina is also required to have valid SINs for students on file for income tax purposes. Once you have your SIN, make sure to update it in UR Self-Service.

Social Insurance Number clinics will be available on May 2 and 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the International Student Services office in College West, Room 109. This service is offered on a walk-in basis. Students are asked to bring their valid Study Permit, Passport, and Proof of Residence.
