University of Regina representatives attend COP29 talks 🌏

Last month, University of Regina representatives attended the COP 29 worldwide climate change negotiations in Baku, Azerbaijan. U of R’s delegation this year included Dr. Amber Fletcher, Academic Director of the Community Engagement and Research Centre. Dr. Fletcher’s expertise aligns with COP 29’s critical discussion on how social and gender inequalities shape climate disaster experiences. The delegation also included Abraham Bugre, a PhD candidate and the Co-Director of the Gender, Environment, & Social Inequality Lab at the University of Regina.

At the session “From the Prairies to the Nations: Addressing Climate Disasters with Equity,” they participated in a multi-stakeholder panel, moderated by Abraham Bugre. The interactive discussion emphasized best practices to improve knowledge mobilization and creating equitable solutions to address the Canadian prairie region’s high vulnerability to climate-induced hazards.

Stay tuned to receive updates for a post-COP session!
