Once you are a University of Regina student you can register for your classes through Visual Schedule Builder (VSB).

How to Search for Classes

The easiest and most robust way to search for classes is through Visual Schedule Builder (VSB). If you have never used VSB, please read this manual (How to use VSB) to get started.

Alternatively, you can log into UR Self-Service and complete the following steps:

  1. Click on Student Menu
  2. Click on Search for Classes
  3. Select a Term
  4. Search for courses by subject, course number, title, or instructor or use the Advanced Search.
  5. Click on Search
  6. Classes meeting your search critieria will appear. Click on the Title to find more information.

All graduate students will have a time-ticket that opens at 8 a.m. on the first day of registration.

How to Register in a Class

  1. Log into UR Self-Service
  2. Click on Student Menu
  3. Click on Prepare to Register
    You can view your Time Ticket, Holds, Academic Standing… and more!
    If you are ready to register and know your CRN’s, then…
  4. Go back to the Student Menu and click on Add or Drop Classes
  5. Select a Term
  6. Click on Enter CRNs
  7. Enter your CRN in the CRN field.
  8. Click on Add to Summary.
  9. In the Summary panel, click on Submit.
  10. Registration Waitlists

Once enrolment for a class has reached its capacity, the waitlist will be activated.

Registration Errors

If you receive an error when trying to register to a course, it could be for multiple reasons. Visit Registration Errors for information on what to do and the types of errors you may get.

Special Students
Special Students including Visiting students are able to self-register. Auditing students are not able to self-register and must be registered by the Registrar's Office. Please fill out the appropriate form (Printable forms) and submit it to special.registration@uregina.ca to be registered.
Senior students, over the age of 65, register normally as either a credit or audit student. For more information on our Senior Tuition Waiver please see our Senior Tuition Waiver FAQ.

How to Withdraw from a Class

  1. Log into UR Self-Service
  2. Click on Student menu
  3. Click on Add or Drop Classes
  4. Select a Term
  5. Scroll down to Summary
  6. Click on the drop down arrow and choose the available option to drop/withdraw
  7. Click on Submit
  8. To view deadlines for when you can drop classes with full or partial refunds, go to Drop Deadline Dates in the Student Menu of UR Self-Service.

How to View your Schedule

  1. Log into UR Self-Service
  2. Click on Student Menu
  3. Click on Student Profile or Add or Drop a Class >> Schedule Details

Class Sections Requiring Special Approval

There are some class sections that require special approval for the faculty. These may include:

  • Internships
  • Practicums
  • Work-Terms
  • Challenge Examinations
  • Supplemental Examinations
  • High School (Dual Credit) Sections
  • Off-campus courses where registration begins in June
  • Certain Media, Art, and Performance courses
  • CRNs with a Special Approval code

These types of courses are not available for viewing or registration in UR Self-Service.

You can view these courses by selecting Class Sections Requiring Staff Registration from the left-hand menu above under Course Schedules. Select a Term and then search for the specific class.

You can register in these courses by contacting your Academic Advising Office.
