Providing accessible, voluntary, evidence-based and inclusive psychological services to our diverse student community. The Student Mental Health team strives to support you with your mental wellness goals by using a resiliency-oriented, skills-based, and proactive engagement approach.

8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Closed on statutory and University holidays

Our Services:

  • Designed using a stepped-care model, allowing for increased variety, flexibility, and choice.
  • Offered at no cost to registered UofR students.
  • Services are change-oriented, solution-focused, and align with behavioural therapy frameworks, such as Acceptance Commitment Therapy.
  • Designed to foster psychological flexibility and resiliency.
  • Services are brief and goal-directed in nature, following a one at a time treatment approach.
  • Involve psychoeducation, therapeutic strategies, skill-developing tools, and recommended resources for further or continued support.

Our Clinicians:

Are Registered Psychologists with the College of Saskatchewan Psychologists and Registered Social Workers with the  Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers.

Have extensive experience treating a wide variety of concerns using evidence-based approaches.

Are committed to ongoing professional development and learning.

Provide services in accordance with the Canadian Code of Ethics for Psychologists, 4th Edition and the Mental Health Services Act.

Your Health Information:

Is private and protected by law - including the Health Information Protection Act (HIPA) and the Local Authority of Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (LAFOIPP).

Encompasses information shared during your therapy session, including whether you have accessed our services.

Will not be disclosed to University faculty and staff, parents and family members, or other persons and agencies without your written permission.

Exception - ethical and legal limitations to confidentiality do exisit. These are discussed during your initial session and highlighted in our consent to participate

Your Questions, Answered!

Can I make a referral or book an appointment for someone else?

Requests must be done by the person seeking or accessing our services.

Our services are entirely voluntary, meaning:
  • The person willingly wants to participate in our services
  • There is no coersion or contingent consequence involved in utilizing our services
  • Self-referral is the only accepted referral source
How do I meet with someone immediately?
Our services are largely appointment-based. This means that:
  • Being seen immediately as a walk-in can not be guaranteed
  • The ability to immediately speak with a Student Mental Health clinician can not be guaranteed
  • The ability to provide you with a specific, concrete wait-time can not be guaranteed
  • An immediate response to email, phone, or webform messages can not be guaranteed

The wait time and time allocated to the appointment is dependant on staff availability, fluctuating operational demands, and our defined office hours.

How do I book an appointment?

If you are a new client or it has been over 6 months since your last appointment:

  1. Review and complete our online consent form
  2. You will receive an email response from Student Mental Health during our hours of operation

If you are an exsting client:

  1. Email your Student Mental Health clinician. To help with scheduling efficiency, it is helpful to include your: 
    • General weekday availability
    • Name
    • Student ID Number
  2. You will receive an email response from your clinician during our hours of operation
What types of therapy appointments do you offer?
Your appointment options are:
  • In person at the Student Wellness Centre
  • Virtually on Zoom for Healthcare

Student Mental Health does not provide therapy via telephone, text, or email.

How much does an appointment cost?

All services provided by Student Mental Health are offered at no cost to registered University of Regina students.

How do I cancel or reschedule my appointment?

There are several options:

  1. Email your clinician directly
  2. Phone the Student Wellness Centre reception at: 306-337-2200
  3. Email StudentMentalHealth@uregina.ca
  4. Send a message through our website

If you are unable to attend your appointment, we kindly request you cancel your appointment as soon as possible. This helps us to provide our services in a timely and efficient manner.
