Service Guidelines
Respectful Interactions
Preventing harassment and discrimination is everyone's responsibility. Collectively, all members of the UofR community should work together to cultivate a culture of respect and fosster an inclusive, diverse, and safe university for all.
As a UR RESPECTED partner, we strive to uphold this commitment in our physical spaces and through our service delivery. This also means that we hold the same expectations for those who utilize our services, visit our waiting room, or interact with our team members.
Learn more about Respectful University Services
The Student Mental Health team is a non-faculty department under the perview of Student Affairs. As such, our individual psychotherapy services are:
- Available to registered University of Regina students only
- Facilitated via pre-booked in-person or virtual appointments, conducted from our private on-campus offices
- Scheduled within the Student Wellness Centre's hours of operation (8:15 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday)
Since we are appointment-based, being seen immediately as a walk-in cannot be guaranteed. The wait-time and time allocated to the appointment is dependant on staff availability and fluctuating opperational demands. This also means that an immediate response to phone or email messages cannot be guaranteed.

When You Need TO Cancel:
We strive to provide timely appointment date options to our clients. To help us meet this aim, it is essential that you cancel your appointment as soon as possible.
There are several options to notify us that you're unable to attend your appointment:- Email your Student Mental Health clinician directly
- Send a message using our webform
- Phone Reception at 306-337-2200
WHEN we NEED TO CANCEL:
On occasion, situations arise that necessitate cancelling and rescheduling your appointment. This could be due to your clinician unexpectedly being away from the office, an unanticipated power-outage, notice of emergency alarm testing, or unforseen technical difficulties that would impact virtual appointments.
In these situations, we strive to provide you with as much notice as reasonably possible. Depending on the circumstances, you will be contacted:- By your clinician, a Student Mental Health team member, or the Student Wellness Centre receptionist
- Either by phone or by email (as listed on your consent form)
To help ensure we're successful in contacting you, please inform your clinician of any changes to your contact information.
To ensure we're able to provide timely and effective care, arriving to your appointment on time is necessary.
If you are more than 10 minutes late, you will be required to rebook your appointment. You can do this by:- Emailing your Student Mental Health clinician directly
- Sending a message using our webform
Professional Accounts:
Student Mental Health does not maintain accounts on any social media platform.
On occasion, other U of R departments may include information about our services and events on their designated social media accounts. Student Mental Health expects that these posts comply with the official University of Regina policies and standards governing social media accounts.
- Please be aware that, based on your engagement with these posts, it may be inferred that you are currently accessing our services, or have been a client in the past.
The Student Mental Health team does not use social media sites to gain information about a student, to contact a student, or to give personal therapy advice.
Personal Accounts:
Student Mental Health clinicians who have personal social media accounts are expected to set their privacy settings to the highest level of security available.
- Please be aware that social media sites are not secure forums. Online interactions that are publicly viewable can also compromise your privacy and confidentiality.
It is expected that clinicians will not "follow", send or accept friend/contact requests, publicly or privately message, or interact on any social media/networking sites with current or former clients (consistent with SK College of Psychologists Professional Practice Guidelines, section 16.2).
- Please be aware that these interactions blur the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship, as well as interferes with both the client and clinician's right to privacy.
Clinicians will maintain strict adherence to client confidentiality and will exhibit extreme caution when writing about clients, situations, or work settings despite the information appearing to be de-identified.
