Student Conduct Office

The Student Conduct Office collaborates with all members of the campus community to offer guidance and referrals, address reported instances of student non-academic misconduct, and develop learning opportunities to help students and staff navigate and resolve different types of conflicts.

The Office is guided by the Regulations Governing Discipline for Academic and Non-Academic Misconduct as stated in the Student Code of Conduct and Right to Appeal. Our mission is to promote personal growth, ethical behavior, and a safe learning environment by guiding students through the conduct process, fostering understanding of rights and responsibilities, and empowering individuals to make positive choices.

Purpose

Uphold Community Standards

The Student Conduct Office is committed to upholding the University’s policies and codes of conduct to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all members of the community. Through education and awareness campaigns, we promote an understanding of community expectations and foster a sense of shared responsibility for maintaining a respectful and welcoming campus culture.

Ensure Fairness and Due Process
The Student Conduct Office is dedicated to providing a fair and impartial process for addressing alleged violations of university policies and codes of conduct. We ensure that all individuals involved are treated with respect, dignity and fairness, while upholding the principles of due process and procedural fairness.
Build Conflict Resolution Skills
We believe in the power of collaboration and restorative practices to resolve conflicts and repair harm within the community. By working collaboratively with students, faculty, staff and other members of the community we seek to address misconduct incidents in a fair and compassionate manner that encourages dialogue, understanding and accountability.
Foster Inclusion and Equity

We are committed to creating an environment that embraces diversity and fosters inclusivity. The Student Conduct Office actively works towards addressing issues of discrimination and harassment, ensuring that all students are treated equitably and have access to resources and support services that promote well-being. Step In Step Up: UR Action Trainings

The Step In Step Up training program is a collaboration between the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office, and the Student Conduct Office.  The trainings provide members of the University community with practical strategies for addressing incidents of gender-based violence, and offers skills for developing healthy relationship and conflict resolution habits.
