You’ve heard the saying, 'An apple a day keeps the doctor away,' but let’s be real—true health and wellness is about more than just what’s on your plate. At the University of Regina, your well-being is our priority. We offer a variety of health and wellness services to support your mind, body, and academic success. Discover the choices available to you.

Student Wellness Centre

The Student Wellness Centre brings together several distinct Student Affairs departments dedicated to supporting your well-being throughout your time at university. As a registered U of R student, here’s what’s on offer:

Student Health Services delivers primary healthcare through licensed Nurse Practitioners, including common infections, minor injuries, STI testing and treatment, contraception (IUDs and implant insertions), pregnancy testing, health screenings, and prescription refills.

Student Mental Health provides free psychological services by Registered Psychologists and Social Workers, offering flexible options—including in-person or virtual appointments—to meet your needs and goals. They also connect you to online support resources, some of which include:

  • Togetherall: A digital mental health wellness platform that provides a safe, 24/7 online community where U of R students can access peer-to-peer emotional support.
  • Talking Stick: A space where Indigenous students can connect anonymously with Indigenous Peer Advocates or Special Teams Service Providers for guidance in their areas of expertise.
  • Hope for Wellness: A 24/7 support service available to all Indigenous students across Canada in English and French. Upon request, phone support is also offered in Cree, Ojibway, and Inuktitut.
  • Online Therapy Unit: An online cognitive behavioural therapy service that addresses various mental health concerns, offering treatment materials along with optional support from a therapist over the phone or through email.

Student Accessibility is a primary contact for personalized support and advocacy services, including: academic accommodations; accommodation plans based on medical recommendations; and assistance with disability-related funding applications—all while prioritizing confidentiality and self-advocacy.

Multi-Faith Chaplaincy creates safe, welcoming spaces for spiritual well-being, offering services such as pastoral care, inter-faith dialogue, spiritual learning, and more.

Campus Wellness Activities

The Faculty of Kinesiology and Health Studies facilitates a wealth of services, programs, and activities to support your well-being. You might already know that U of R students with a valid student ID have access to the Fitness and Lifestyle Centre and Aquatics Centre—but did you know about the other services they offer?

  • URFit: Registered U of R students can access a variety of URFit classes—from yoga to aquafit—completely free!
  • Rec Sports: Only open to U of R students, Rec Sports offers a range of activities, giving you a chance to stay active while building community.
  • Centre for Health, Wellness and Performance (CHWP): Need some recovery time after your workout? Students receive discounted 30-minute massages at the CHWP. The centre also provides online health resources and a health plan.

Academic Support

With the right support, achieving a healthy balance between your academics and well-being is possible. Here are two key campus resources to get you started:

Student Success Centre offers numerous services such as academic advising, academic excellence workshops, learning skills consultations, writing supports, and even tutoring options. Visit the U of R Student Success Centre website for more information.

About the University of Regina

2024 marked our 50th anniversary as an independent University (although our roots as Regina College date back more than a century!). As we celebrate our past, we work towards a future that is as limitless as the prairie horizon. We support the health and well-being of our 17,200 students and provide them with hands-on learning opportunities to develop career-ready graduates – more than 92,000 alumni enrich communities in Saskatchewan and around the globe. Our research enterprise has grown to 21 research centres and 9 Canada Research Chairs. Our campuses are on Treaties 4 and 6 - the territories of the nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda peoples, and the homeland of the Michif/Métis nation. We seek to grow our relationships with Indigenous communities to build a more inclusive future.

Let’s go far, together.
