You’ve settled into the winter semester. You’ve gone to your new classes, started on your reading and assignments, and, last but not least, realized how busy this semester is going to be with deadlines, group projects, and exams. It can all be very overwhelming, but the Student Success Centre is here for you! They have a variety of programs and services to help you succeed this semester and keep your stress to a minimum.

Academic Excellence Workshops

If you could use a bit of support this semester, the Student Success Centre has a variety of workshops designed to develop important skills or improve existing skills. This includes note taking, time management, building effective study habits, and writing. In addition, volunteers from Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada are even offering a series of financial literacy workshops throughout the semester!

These workshops are 45 to 60 minutes, offered both in-person and on Zoom, and you do not need to register in advance. The Student Success Centre has a full events calendar available, which lists all of their upcoming workshops.

One-on-one Tutoring

If you are in your second semester and feel like you could use some additional support, the Student Success Centre offers the U-Turn Program. This a free program available to undergraduate students who were placed on Academic Probation following their first semester, as well as any students who feel like they could benefit from the program. Participants in the program can expect:

  • Opportunities to develop the study skills necessary for academic success (i.e. improved time management, overcoming procrastination, new study strategies, understanding professor expectations, engagement on campus)
  • Increased advising support (both academic and learning supports)
  • To meet with an Academic Advisor at least once (required before you can register for the next semester)
  • To meet with a Learning Support Advisor a minimum of twice during the term

About the University of Regina

2024 marks our 50th anniversary as an independent University (although our roots as Regina College date back more than a century!). As we celebrate our past, we work towards a future that is as limitless as the prairie horizon. We support the health and well-being of our 16,700 students and provide them with hands-on learning opportunities to develop career-ready graduates. Our research enterprise has grown to include 21 research centres and 12 Canada Research Chairs and brings in more than $51.2 million in funding annually. Our campuses are on Treaties 4 and 6 - the territories of the nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda peoples, and the homeland of the Michif/Métis nation. We seek to grow our relationships with Indigenous communities to build a more inclusive future.

Let’s go far, together.
