If you have a grade 12 average of 95 per cent or higher, you need to consider applying for the University of Regina’s new and prestigious Chancellor’s Scholarship. Successful applicants – 14 each year – will receive $10,000 each year for four years and free first-year on-campus housing.

If you’re serious about studying at the U of R and are an academically high achieving domestic student, check out our Top 5 Chancellor’s Scholarship tips!

Tip #1

Start with the basics.

Beginning in fall 2024, the new Chancellor’s Scholarship at the University of Regina will be awarded annually to 14 undergraduate students with a minimum admission average of 95 per cent.

The scholarship – created through the generosity of donors within the newly created Chancellor’s Community – will provide 14 domestic students (Canadian citizens, permanent residents or protected persons) with demonstrated exceptional academic success, $10,000 per year for up to four years, plus free on-campus housing for their first year. Of the 14 Chancellor’s Scholarships, one of the scholarships will be reserved for Indigenous applicants and one for out-of-province Canadian applicants.

Tip #2

$46,000 and how it adds up.

The total value of each Chancellor’s Scholarship is approximately $46,000 ($10,000 x 4 years + FREE first-year on-campus accommodation).

Tip #3

Keep up those great grades and be aware of the ongoing eligibility and renewal requirements.

In order to be eligible for renewal of the Chancellor’s Scholarship, recipients must achieve a minimum sessional GPA of 80% (prior spring/summer, fall, and winter terms) on a minimum of 18 credit hours. To hold this scholarship students must register and remain registered in a minimum of 9 credit hours per term up to and including the last day of classes.

Tip #4

Took a break after finishing high school? You can still apply for the Chancellor’s Scholarship.

The Chancellor’s Scholarship is being offered to students directly from high school, or as a high school graduate who has not completed any post-secondary courses (other than those completed while the student was still in high school, such as in the High School Accelerated program).
