  5. Five ways you can Choose UR Own Adventure

Choosing a university can be a difficult decision, especially when you’re not really sure what life is like as a university student.

No need to worry – the University of Regina knows how to help.

Take the stress and mystery out of university! The U of R is giving high school students the unique opportunity to get a fully-customizable sneak peek at what life is like as a U of R student.

On Friday, March 3 from Noon to 6 p.m., the U of R campus is yours to explore. Open to students, friends, parents, supporters, and guidance counsellors, Choose UR Own Adventure is the perfect way to engage with current U of R students, student services, the campus community, and take part in hands-on activities.

Reserve your spot now for Choose UR Own Adventure!

"We designed Choose UR Own Adventure to showcase the fun side of university. We know that prospective students are feeling unsure about their post-secondary options, especially after being isolated during the pandemic,” said Kayla Schmaus, Interim Manager, Student Recruitment & Marketing.

“We want students to experience our vibrant, diverse, and welcoming U of R community and begin to feel more comfortable on our campus. The U of R is known for the incredible ways in which we support our students and we’re making sure that shines through in every aspect of Choose Your Own Adventure."

What adventure will you choose? Here’s a few ideas to help you customize your U of R adventure:

1. Attend a student panel

Every U of R Faculty will be delivering interactive workshops and student panels to give you a detailed and entertaining look at the programs you’re interested in.

Wondering what it takes to become a teacher? Want to know what kind of jobs an engineering grad can get? Get all the answers you’re looking for straight from the source.

There will even be current U of R students on hand to give you insights on what a new student can expect when entering your program of choice.

2. Take a tour

One of the toughest things about starting university can be just finding your way around. Get a lay of the land with a guided tour around campus and scope out the best places to eat and the best study spots for when midterms roll around.

You’ll also be able to check out all housing options available on campus and even get a look at the Faculty of Media, Art, and Performance studios.

3. Spend the night

Coming in from out of town? Pack a toothbrush and stay the night FREE in one of our on-campus housing units.

Staying overnight will give you the full campus-life experience and show you all the advantages that come with living on campus – like being able to wake up five minutes before class!

4. Get admitted on the spot (and save!)

Whether you’ve made your decision or are still on the fence, make sure to bring a copy of your transcript so you can apply to the U of R for a half-price application fee ($50) and be admitted on the spot!

All high school students are eligible to apply for admission to all U of R programs during Admission on the Spot, with the exceptions of le Baccalauréat en éducation, the Indigenous Education program, Music Education or the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, as those programs require completion of additional admission requirements.

5. Have some fun

There are also plenty of exciting things to do between sessions, like hanging out with therapy dogs or taking part in a social media scavenger hunt around campus.

Choose UR Own Adventure will show you what campus life is all about at the University of Regina!
