Social Work
Together, We Can Do So Much
The Faculty of Social Work is dedicated to providing the highest quality social work education through our internationally recognized programs. Through our bachelor's and master's programs, we teach our students to identify the needs of the disadvantaged, marginalized and oppressed, and empower individuals, families, and communities to realize their full potential. Graduates from our programs find careers in areas including addictions and family counselling, mental health and addictions, child welfare, social policy research and analysis, healthcare, criminal justice, community development, newcomer support, education, activism, advocacy and empowerment.
The Faculty of Social Work provides social work courses in Regina, Saskatoon, the Yukon, Northwest Territories and throughout rural regions of Saskatchewan. We partner with the First Nations University of Canada, Yukon University, Aurora College and various Saskatchewan Regional Colleges.
The University of Regina is situated on Treaty 4 lands with a presence in Treaty 6. These are the territories of the nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda, and the homeland of the Métis/Michif Nation. Today, these lands continue to be the shared Territory of many diverse peoples from near and far. The Faculty works closely with our colleagues at First Nations University of Canada and continues to reach learners and collaborate with partners who are located in communities situated in Treaty territories 4, 6, and 10, the traditional territories of the Cree, Saulteaux, Nakota, Lakota, Dakota, Dene, Gwich’in, Tlicho, and Sahto Nations, and the historical homelands of the Métis people.

Alumni and Community
The Faculty of Social Work is proud to have a strong and dynamic alumni community of professionals who are committed to making a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities, both locally and around the world. Among them are addictions counsellors, adoption workers, child protection workers, family counsellors, newcomer support workers, outreach workers, social researchers and policy analysts.
The University's alumni page is a centralized location where graduates from U of R programs can find links to news and events, assistance with job searches, and information on the numerous benefits available to them, including access to many campus services. Members of the University of Regina Alumni Association may also have the opportunity to serve on the Association's Board of Directors. Please refer to the Alumni Relations page for further information on how to stay informed and connected with the University of Regina as alumni.
The Faculty of Social Work continues to collaborate with community members toward a common goal – to make a difference. Without our community partners, our efforts to this end would be fruitless. Our partners are many: governmental departments, research institutes, advocacy groups, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, the media and professional bodies (namely the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW), the Canadian Association of Social Workers (CASW) and the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE)).
