Awards and Scholarships
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics has many scholarship opportunities available to graduate students. Below is a list of awards targeted specifically to students enrolled in programs offered by the Department.

Please note that the scholarship information on the Department of Mathematics and Statistics website is for reference only, and in the case of a discrepancy between this website and GAP, GAP will be considered to be correct.

Entrance Awards
FGSR UR Excellence Entrance Scholarship
Eligibility: Holders of these awards are required to be a fully qualified, entering graduate student in their first Master’s degree program.
Students must have previously completed an undergraduate degree from the University of Regina.
FGSR Women in STEM Entrance Scholarship
Eligibility: Holders of these awards are required to be a fully-qualified graduate student who identifies as a woman. Students must also be an entering student (be in their first semester) in a STEM discipline, in a Master's or Doctoral degree program. Master’s & PhD students must have a minimum of a first class average (equivalent to a minimum of 80%) when they enter their program.
Continuing Awards
Mathematics and Statistics Fall Scholarship
Number available: Variable
Deadline for Application: The deadline for each year varies and will be announced.
Eligibility:
- Registration: Must be enrolled as a full-time Ph.D. or thesis based Masters student in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics during the Fall term the year the scholarship is issued.
- In Good Standing: Students must hold and maintain a minimum 80% average.
- Post-Program Maintenance: Students who are, or will be, in post-program maintenance (i.e. have completed all formal credit hour degree requirements in the program and therefore register in GRST995AA, AB) are NOT eligible for these funds.
- Employment: There is no restriction on employement while holding this scholarship.

FGSR Graduate Teaching Assistantship (GTA)
Description: Graduate Teaching Assistants assist with the instructional program of undergraduate courses or laboratories. The Graduate TA is funded through the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research (FGSR).
Value: Salary in accordance with CUPE 2419 collective agreement - 120 hours per term
Mathematics and Statistics Fall Scholarship FAQ
How to Apply: Students fill out the "Scholarship Application Form" and supervisors fill out the "Letter of Support Form for Reference" (below). Both forms should be emailed to mathstat@uregina.ca to arrive before the deadline. Please include the word "Scholarship" and the applicants name in the email subject line.
