Welcome

The Vice-President (Research) serves as a driving force behind the University’s research and innovation ecosystem. This role provides strategic leadership to the Office of Research Services, the Office of Research Partnerships & Innovation, the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, and the University’s numerous Research Centres and Institutes. With a focus on fostering excellence, the Vice-President (Research) champions research initiatives, secures funding opportunities, and builds collaborative partnerships at local, national, and international levels.

As the senior leader responsible for advancing research and graduate studies, the Vice-President (Research) guides the development and execution of the University's goals, objectives, and strategic plans. By working closely with Faculties and academic and administrative support units, the Vice-President (Research) cultivates partnerships and strengthens the University’s research infrastructure, creating new opportunities for transformative research, innovation, and high-quality training.

Dr. Andrea Sterzuk

Associate Vice-President (Research)

Reporting to the Vice-President (Research), the Associate Vice-President (Research) Dr. Andrea Sterzuk is responsible for the Office of Research Services, the Office of Research Partnerships and Innovation, the Research Ethics Board, and university-based research centres. The Associate Vice-President (Research) works to ensure that comprehensive research infrastructure is in place to support individual researchers, departments, and faculties. The Associate Vice-President (Research) also works with funding agencies and other partners to build collaborations that support strategic research priorities.

Research Engagement Managers

Research Engagement Managers play a critical roles in advancing research engagement across all equity-deserving groups at the University of Regina. These positions are responsible for managing and coordinating initiatives that promote inclusive research practices, support diverse researchers, supporting equitable access to resources and opportunities for researchers, and foster collaboration within and beyond the university community. Research Engagement Managers work closely with the Vice-President Research (VPR) and Associate Vice-President (AVP) Indigenous Engagement, to develop and implement strategies that enhance research opportunities within Indigenous communities and ensure equity in access to resources.

Indigenous-led Research

The University of Regina is dedicated to fostering and advancing Indigenous research that respects and celebrates Indigenous worldviews. Our researchers collaborate with Indigenous communities to ensure research initiatives are mutually beneficial, culturally respectful, and grounded in local knowledge.

Through accountable and reciprocal partnerships, we integrate Indigenous ways of knowing into research and outreach efforts. These collaborations strengthen relationships with urban, rural, and remote Indigenous communities, enhancing engagement across all aspects of our research enterprise.
