Political Donations and Sponsorships
Introduction
The purpose of this policy is to provide guidance to staff and individuals external to the University regarding political fundraising dinners, golf tournaments and other events. This policy applies to all faculty, staff, members of Senate and the Board of Governors.
Policy
The University of Regina is a publicly funded institution, is registered as a not-for-profit organization, and is a registered charity that does not contribute financially to political organizations. University funds are to be used to further the University’s operations. These funds are not to be used to further any particular political agenda.
Political Donations
- University of Regina funds are not to be used to make a donation to an organization or to pay the registration fee for an event whose purpose is to further a particular political agenda.
- In the case of civic, provincial and federal political fundraising dinners or events, University officials, staff or representatives are free to attend events at their own personal expense. University funds will not be used to support attendance at these events.
Consequences for Noncompliance
Any individual who has used University funds towards a political donation must repay these funds to the University and may face disciplinary action.
