About Alain
Alain Maubert studied his Bachelor's Degree (Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering) at Universidad del Valle de Mexico, Lomas Verdes Campus, Mexico City, Mexico. His final project was related to night vision goggles.
He went to Beijing, China, to pursue a Master of Science degree at Tsinghua University. His thesis was titled “Maps Enhancing Social Life.”
He is a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of Computer Science, University of Regina, Saskatchewan, working under the supervision of Professor Daryl H. Hepting. Alain’s research focuses on exploring left-handed control configurations for video games. He has had an opportunity to present his research at both national venues in Canada and international conferences, such as CHI 2019 in Glasgow, UK.
His prior teaching experience includes a position as a Research and Teaching Assistant, Basic Sciences and Engineering Division (CBI), Department of Electronics, at the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM Azcapotzalco) in Mexico City.
In Canada, he has contributed to the University of Regina by teaching several computer science courses, including:
- CS 215 - Web and Database Programming
- CS 476 - Software Development Project (commonly referred to as the computer science capstone)
- CS 408 - Animation Software Design (an elective course within the computer science curriculum that explores creative technology)
Maubert is the course instructor for CTCH 312: Introduction to Computer Game & Virtual Reality Design, where he shares his experience in the exciting and evolving field of computer science applied to video games and virtual reality composition towards experimental art applications.
