Academic Programs

Undergraduate Students:

  • We offer 4 year undergraduate degrees in Human Kinetics (Kinesiology/Exercise Science), Health Promotion, Health Studies, Sport and Recreation Management, and Therapeutic Recreation (Recreation Therapy).
  • A 1 year Certificate in Health Studies and a 2 year Diploma in Health Studies are also available.
  • Two joint degree options are available: Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Sport and Recreation Studies (Sport Management); Bachelor of Education/Bachelor of Kinesiology (Physical Literacy).
  • Several transfer agreements are in place with programs at Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, Saskatechwan Polytechnic, Red Deer Polytechnic, and a number of  schools in British Columbia.

Graduate Students:

  • We offer a thesis based (research intensive) Master’s and PhD option for those interested in furthering their understanding about Kinesiology, Health, Epidemiology, Leisure and Therapeutic Recreation, Disability Studies, and Sport Management.
  • A course and practicum based Master’s in Clinical Kinesiology is also available for students who are practice focused.

Opportunities for Students: Behind the Scenes with our Student Media Team

Did you know that the Faculty of KHS has a Student Media Team?

The Creative Media Team is a student-led production crew responsible for producing the live broadcasts of Cougars sports games and KHS events. Since its establishment, the CMT has produced all of the live broadcasts of Cougars Hockey, Soccer, Volleyball, and Basketball home games to Canada West TV, along with various KHS events and U of R convocation ceremonies.
