Your Email Account has changed

When did my email change?

  • As of May 6, 2024, at 4:30 PM all University of Regina Retiree GroupWise accounts moved to Microsoft Outlook.
  • All your existing emails, folders, calendar items, contacts and tasks in GroupWise will be moved to Outlook.
Note: Outlook software can be used on Windows, on Mac you must use MacMail (can't download the Outlook app on Mac).

Information

On May 6 at 8:00 AM: Start using MS Outlook instead of GroupWise
Go to https://www.outlook.com on a browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc.) and click 'Sign In.'
  • Enter email address as your username@uregina.ca (ie: smithma@uregina.ca or willia1r@uregina.ca).
  • Enter your usual password, same as used for GroupWise email.
  • Through the day, items in GroupWise that are not yet in your Outlook account will be copied over.
  • This includes all emails, calendar items, and cabinet folders.
As of May 7 at 8:00 AM: Your transition to MS Outlook is complete
NOTE: Some recurring meetings may not copy over correctly, and you may have to manually adjust or resend some recurring meetings.
  • You can login to GroupWise to check your calendar and compare items to make sure everything has moved over to Outlook correctly.
How do I access Outlook after the transition?
  1. Sign in online on a browser (Firefox, Chrome, etc.) at https://www.outlook.com
  2. You can download Outlook software on your Windows computer/laptop if you perfer using this by downloading it from https://www.outlook.com.
    1. Login with your username@uregina.ca and usual password.

  3. Install the MS Outlook App on your mobile device from the Apple App Store (on iOS) or Play Store (on Android): See, Mobile Device Setup instructions
  4. If you have a Mac computer/laptop you can configure MacMail with your Outlook account by adding it as an ‘Exchange’ account.
Where can I find instructions on using Outlook, and setting up Outlook on my mobile device?

  • Phone the IS Service Desk (formerly, IT Support) at 306-585-4685 on weekdays 7:30am to 9:45pm, or weekends  9:00am to 9:45pm.
  • Visit us in person in ED 137 on weekdays between 7:30am and 4:30pm, or weekends in the Archer Library from 9:00am to 8:00pm.
Does this mean I also have access to MS Office 365 software?

No, your uregina Microsoft account provides access to MS Outlook email and calendar only.

Can I still use GroupWise?
No, all new emails and calendar invitations will be directed to MS Outlook as of 8:00am on May 6.

  • May 30 (Thursday): Will no longer be available off-campus, unless connected to the VPN. Also blocked from UofR Guest wireless and on-campus public lab networks.
  • July 31 (Wednesday): Will no longer be available and fully retired

GroupWise Messenger Chat

  • May 30 (Thursday): Will no longer be available off-campus unless connected to the VPN. Also blocked from UofR Guest wireless and on-campus public lab networks.
  • July 2 (Tuesday): Will no longer be available and fully retired. 

FAQs

Will my username still be the same?
  • Yes, but you will need to sign in with username@uregina.ca
  • Just your username alone will no longer be sufficient.
Will my password still be the same?
  • Yes, your existing uregina account password will not change
What if I use Webmail and not GroupWise for email?

If you use Webmail to access your University of Regina email, please contact the IS Service Desk (formerly, IT Support Centre) or if you come to campus for the upcoming in-person support we can assist you then (see below).

What if I have the email App on my cell phone?
If you have your @uregina.ca email setup on a mobile device, you will need to install the MS Outlook app and sign in.
What if I have my @uregina.ca email forwarded to another email address?
  • If you set up a rule in GroupWise to forward your email elsewhere, it will no longer be in place.
  • After your account has been converted, you will a need to access your @uregina.ca email via https://www.outlook.com or install the MS Outlook App and sign-in.
  • If you need to forward your @uregina.ca email to another address, there will be a webpage created for this purpose.
  • Contact IT Support if you require assistance.
What if I don't have GroupWise but I still get you U of R emails in another email account?
  • All U of R email will go to your new Outlook account.
  • If you have your @uregina.ca email forwarded to another email address, or if you read your UofR emails in another program (software), you need to login to Outlook (http://www.outlook.com) to view your emails.
  • Contact IT Support if you require assistance.
