Applying Made Easy!

Ready to secure your spot on-campus? Great! To secure your stay first submit your application. We're here to help you through the process. Learn what to expect before you apply to make sure you succeed. 

Don’t wait to apply! Housing and Hospitality Services selects rooms on a first-come, first-served basis. The sooner you apply, the better chance you have of securing the room of your choice.  

To complete a residence application, you will need:

  • Your University of Regina username and password* 
  • A valid credit card to pay your application fee 
  • A valid email address

Learn the Basics: Securing Your Room

1. Login to the Housing Services Portal

University of Regina students can log in using their U of R username and password. Your U of R credentials are the same as what you use for UR Self-Service. Not sure of your credentials? For more information, or to reset your password, please visit the Information Services page.

If you are a student from a secondary institution such as Saskatchewan Polytechnic or University of Saskatchewan, please review Housing and Hospitality Services' Frequently Asked Questions section to learn how to activate your U of R credentials. 

2. Complete your Residence Application

You’ll find a lot of helpful information in the application, so please follow and read all the steps carefully. The application will ask you to complete the following sections:  

  • Personal details 
  • Emergency contact 
  • Residence room type preferences 
  • Residence community preferences 
  • Roommate requests

Finally, to complete your application as a new resident, pay the $50 application fee using a credit card. Are you a returning resident? Pay a $25 application fee if you are still living on campus.

3. Watch for emails from Housing and Hospitality Services

Don’t miss an important email. Make sure your email address on the Housing Services portal and on your student account is up to date. Email is our preferred way to contact you. We are always happy to assist you with the support you need. Feel free to email Housing.Services@uregina.ca if you have any questions before your stay. 

4. Receive and review your Letter of Offer

Recieving your letter of offer includes details about your room type, cost, move-in date, and instructions on how to confirm your offer. Please be patient. Letters of Offer are sent out when room selections begin for your term. Check out the important dates on Housing and Hospitality Services Homepage to see when selections will begin for your given term.  

5. Accept your Letter of Offer by paying your Confirmation Fee

By paying your $400 confirmation fee, you are agreeing to the expectations for your stay set out in your letter of offer. Please check the deadline to pay your confirmation fee which will be outlined in your letter of offer. Once you make your payment, congratulations! You’ve confirmed your stay with Housing and Hospitality Services.

Tips for Requesting a Roommate

Ready to move into residence with your best friends? Here are some helpful tips for successfully requesting a roommate group on your application: 

  1. Make sure all members of your roommate group have started applying for the same term. 
  2. Make sure all members of your roommate group have checked the Show in Search Results, check box in the application. 
  3. The first roommate requesting a roommate group will need to create a group name. Make sure that all the roommates know the name of the group.  
  4. Keep an eye on your messages and email, you will need to accept or deny all roommate requests once you receive them. 

If you are having issues requesting a roommate on the application or are requesting Roommates of mixed genders, please email Housing.Services@uregina.ca.  

You can select a roommate group on the application until May 31 for Fall and Winter term, and February 28, for Spring and Summer term. If you would like to request a roommate after these dates please email Housing.Services@uregina.ca. Roommate groups applications submitted after these dates are subject to availability. 

Frequently Asked Questions

I am from an alternative institution like Saskatchewan Polytechnic, University of Saskatchewan, or Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies, how do I get my U of R credentials?

No problem! If you are a student applying from another Saskatchewan institution, please email Housing.Services@uregina.ca for further instruction on how to access your University of Regina Credentials, with the following information.:  

  • First Name and Last Name 
  • Date of Birth 
  • Gender Identification 
  • Current Mailing Address 
  • Phone Number 
  • Emergency Contact Name, Phone Number, and Relationship 
  • Name of home institution and program 
  • Preferred E-mail Address 

Documentation: 

  • Enrollment documentation including ID number issued by the issuing institution 
  • One piece of government-issued photo identification 

To be issued your credentials, you must attach the two pieces of documentation identified above to your email. 

Housing and Hospitality Services will email you with further instructions on how to access your University of Regina credentials. Once you receive this information and have followed all the steps provided. 

I am from the Collaborative Nursing program between the University of Regina and the Saskatchewan Polytechnic, how do I get my U of R credentials?
Good news, you already have U of R Credentials! If you are in the Collaborative Nursing program between the University of Regina and the Saskatchewan Polytechnic, you will be assigned U of R credentials in your Letter of acceptance. If you are still unsure, please visit Information Services page.
How do I apply for on-campus residence?
Please apply through the Housing Services Portal. You can use this webpage as a guide to help you with your application! 
Is on-campus residence guaranteed for international students?
We have room for you! Housing and Hospitality Services makes every effort to find space for all applicants, both domestic and international. Make sure you apply as soon as possible for the best chance to be located in your room type of choice. 
Can I arrive earlier than my move-in date?
Yes! We have an early arrival timeframe and form for students who plan on arriving early. Please review early arrival timeframe and process in New Residents Guide.
What is included in the cost of on-campus residence? Amenities?
Your stay comes with a variety of amenities. From water, heat, electricity, fully furnished suites, on-campus support, and more, enjoy everything you need as a student. For a full breakdown of amenities, and to review what comes with your stay, please check out Living on Campus page.
What payment options are available? Any payment plan?
We offer two ways to pay your residence fees: 1. in full on the first day of classes, and 2. through Housing and Hospitality Services makes every effort to find space for all applicants. payment plan option. For payment plans to be granted, residents are required to submit a form for management approval. Find out if a payment plan is right for you by reviewing Payment Guide.
Are additional fees or deposits required?
There are a few extra fees before you confirm your stay, this includes a non-refundable application fee and a confirmation fee. For a full fee breakdown, please visit Payments and Fees page
Can I choose my roommate?
Yes! You can create a roommate group within the residence application. To select your roommate, make sure they have started an application for the same term and have checked the box agreeing to be shown in the search results. Your roommates will have to accept your roommate request to be added.  
What should I do if I have issues with my roommate?
Roommate conflicts can happen from time to time. If they do, try chatting with each other first-talking things out usually solves misunderstandings! If that doesn't work, your Resident Assistant is here to help. They're trained in handling roommate situations and will work with both of you to find a solution. Do I need to purchase a meal plan?
All residents are welcome to purchase a meal plan, however, meal plans are not mandatory for all room types. Only dorm-style accommodations without access to a kitchen are required in their living space to purchase a meal plan. How do meal plans work?
Housing and Hospitality Services meal plan provider has you covered! Simply purchase a meal plan, and you'll receive a special card to show at the cafeteria when you're ready to collect your food. Do the meal plans have halal and vegetarian options?
Yes! Housing and Hospitality Services meal plan provider works hard to accommodate special dietary requests to fit your needs, this includes providing halal, vegetarian, dairy-free, and gluten-free options. Can I cook in a dorm?
Unfortunately, you cannot cook in dorm-style accommodations. Dorm-style rooms do not have direct access to a kitchen; however, we do have community kitchens that can be available for use. How secure is the on-campus residence?
Your safety is a big deal to us! Housing and Hospitality Services have got your back with 24/7 access to Housing and Hospitality Services awesome services and residence life staff, key only access to buildings and rooms, plus Protective Services staff who are there to support you around the clockFor all the details on Housing and Hospitality Services support system in residence, check out the Life in Residence page.
What social activities are available for residents?
We host over 50 exciting events and activities for Housing and Hospitality Services Residents every academic year! From Housing and Hospitality Services annual Housing Services gala, paint nights, and video game tournaments, Housing and Hospitality Services have a variety of events organized by Residence Life team. What should I bring with me?

Are there storage options for my belongings during breaks?

If you are leaving Housing and Hospitality Services temporarily and need a place to store your belongings, we offer storage lockers at a $25 daily cost. Please email Housing.Services@uregina.ca if you would like to inquire about storage lockers.  

"Note: Lockers are 2'x3'x4' and students are permitted a maximum of 1 locker."

Can I stay in on-campus residence during breaks and holidays
Absolutely! Residents are welcome to stay on campus during breaks, such as reading week and winter break. Your on-campus accommodation is your home for the duration outlined in your Residence Contract.
