Internal Scholarships
The URGSA Travel Awards are to assist Master's and Ph.D. students with costs associated with travel for presentations of paper, posters, or other creative work pertinent to their studies. Approved events include conferences, major festivals, case competitions or other artistic events sponsored by recognized national or international organizations. This is a post-travel award.
Eligibility
Fall Semester Competition:
- 8 awards at $750, these awards are open to domestic or international travel; and
- 3 awards at $1250, these awards are open to domestic or international travel with a preference for international travel.
Winter Semester Competition:
-8 awards at $750, these awards are open to domestic or international travel; and
-3 award at $1250, these awards are open to domestic or international travel with a preference for international travel.
The awards will be presented to University of Regina graduate students who meet the following criteria:
-At the time of attendance at the event, the student must have been in good standing, enrolled and registered in a graduate program at the University of Regina in the semester that the travel took place;
-The student must have presented a paper, poster, or other creative work and provide proof that the work was accepted during the application process; or participated in a case competition;
-The conference or event must be relevant to the student's program;
-The student's Academic Unit supports this application;
-Students must write a one-page abstract about the paper, poster or creative work that was presented or the case competition attended;
-Students must provide a detailed list of proof of expenses; and
-Preference will be given to those demonstrating financial need.
Note: Students may not receive this funding more than once at the Master's level or more than twice at the Ph.D. level.
Application Information
A student may submit only one application, per competition.
Please upload the following additional information with this application. Please know that failure to do so will render your application not submitted:
-Proof that a paper, poster or other create work was accepted for presentation at a conference, festival, competition or case competition and provide proof that the work was accepted;
-A one page abstract of the paper, poster or creative work presented;
-A detailed list of expenses: economy air fare, mileage, hotel, food;
- electronic copies of RECEIPTS to show PROOF of attendance in the city that you traveled to, such as boarding pass, food receipts dated during time of travel, taxi /train /transportation receipts for city of travel; and
-Statement demonstrating financial need;
-A brief email of support from your Graduate Coordinator or Supervisor stating that your Academic Unit supports your application (please know you should ask your Graduate Coordinator/supervisor ahead of submitting your application).
Full documentation MUST be submitted by the deadline date to be considered.
