The Faculty of Social Work - Dr. Judy White Equity and Inclusion Award will be given annually to a student who has either overcome significant adversity, demonstrated community leadership, returned to school as a mature student and/or belongs to a vulnerable or marginalized community. This award recognizes demonstrated financial need, courage, resilience, and participation in extracurricular activities such as volunteer work or involvement in the community. Grades or academic achievement is not a consideration, rather this award honours the virtues which Professor Judy White, epitomizes in her practice, scholarship and community work. Judy’s research on the settlement experiences of immigrants draws on her own immigrant journey to Canada from Trinidad in 1987. Dr. White practiced, taught and served as Dean in the Faculty of Social Work, and served as a board member with numerous community agencies, professional associations and Institutes.

Eligibility

The award will be presented to a University of Regina graduate student in odd years who meets the following criteria:
- Pursuing a graduate degree in the Faculty of Social Work;
- Registered and remains registered in a minimum of three credit hours in the term the award is presented;
- In good academic standing; and
- Students must submit an essay of 500 words that demonstrates how they have surmounted trauma or hardship to be in the program, as well as address how receiving the award will help them meet their goals related to their passion, motives for studying social work, and future career plans.

In addition, students will need to upload the following:

- An essay of 500 words that demonstrates how they have surmounted trauma or hardship to be in the program, as well as address how receiving the award will help them meet their goals related to their passion, motives for studying social work, and future career plans; and

- UP TO DATE Transcripts, which include CURRENT SEMESTER REGISTRATION. University of Regina Unofficial Transcript titled 'Current Registration & List of Courses (Unofficial Transcript)' found in UR Self Service OR University of Regina Official Transcript from MyCreds. Please refer to the MyCreds | MesCertif learner FAQs for more information on fees and how to register.

IMPORTANT: If you are an entrance student with no grades yet at the U of R, in addition to the unofficial transcript found in UR Self Service or the official transcript from MyCreds, you MUST also provide a copy of your last institution transcript along with the grading key in order to be considered. You must combine these documents into one and upload them.
