Eligibility

The value of the award is variable, due to budget available. The amount will be noted in the award letter in your UR Self-service account 10 business days after notification, if awarded.

Program – Students must fall into the following categories in order to be eligible for a scholarship:
• PhD Thesis Students or Master’s Thesis Students, including MAP’s - MFA & PhD Thesis Project (Research Creation) students;
• Students in Science, Engineering and Applied Science, Health Studies, Justice Studies, Aboriginal languages and culture, Media, Art and Performance, Intermedia, Journalism, Intercultural Education, Indigenous Education, Matrisse en Education Francais, Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy, Applied Economics and Policy Analysis, Geography, Linguistics, Police Studies, Social and Political Thought and special case programs
*For clarification, Health Studies includes health studies, psychology and clinical psychology, nursing and kinesiology

Qualifications - Holders of these awards are required to be accepted as a fully-qualified student in a Master's or Doctoral degree program at the University of Regina.

In Good Standing – Students must have and maintain a minimum 80% average. An incomplete and/or failing grade from the previous semester's work will render the student ineligible for support.

Required - Grad Thrive Plus 800AA must be completed by the end of the first semester in which a student begins their program, in order to be eligible.

Post-Program Maintenance – Master’s students in their first semester of maintenance and PhD students in their first year of maintenance, ARE eligible to receive funding.

Registered Full-Time - Award recipients are required to be registered full-time in the semester in which the funding is to be received and, accordingly, are required to register in no less than 6 credit hours of course or thesis work pertaining to their program during the corresponding semester when there are outstanding unfulfilled requirements (i.e. thesis or course credit) in their programs. For students having between 3 and 5 credit hours of unfulfilled requirements remaining, this remainder will define the number of credit hours in which they are obliged to register to qualify for funding. Awardees are required to be registered full-time by the 5th day of the first month (January, May or September) of the semester in which the award is to be paid, in order to meet payroll deadlines.

Application Information

ELIGIBILITY CONTINUED:

Holders of Major Awards (value of $17,500 or over) - Students who are holding major awards such as national scholarships, i.e. NSERC, SSHRC or CIHR or equivalent are NOT eligible to receive funding.

Government Funding – Students who hold government funding (ex: CSC funding) that is intended to finance their studies are NOT eligible. Student Loans are not considered Government Funding.

Employment - There is no restriction on employment while holding this scholarship.

Work Terms/Internships/Practicums – Any student on a work term, internship, practicum, etc. in which they are receiving any form of monetary compensation are ineligible to receive the scholarship.

Previous Saskatchewan Innovation Funding – Students who have received more than $15,000 from the Saskatchewan Innovation program since its inception, are not eligible to receive the scholarship.

In addition, students will need to upload the following:

- UP TO DATE Transcripts, which include CURRENT SEMESTER REGISTRATION. University of Regina Unofficial Transcript titled 'Current Registration & List of Courses (Unofficial Transcript)' found in UR Self Service OR University of Regina Official Transcript from MyCreds. Please refer to the MyCreds | MesCertif learner FAQs for more information on fees and how to register.

IMPORTANT: If you are an entrance student with no grades yet at the U of R, in addition to the unofficial transcript found in UR Self Service or the official transcript from MyCreds, you MUST also provide a copy of your last institution transcript along with the grading key in order to be considered. You must combine these documents into one and upload them.
