The Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PTRC), a collaborative initiative of Natural Resources Canada, Saskatchewan Industry and Resources and the University of Regina and Saskatchewan Research Council, is an internationally recognized leader in finding, developing and applying innovative technologies and engineering solutions for the petroleum sector. In 2008-2009, the Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PTRC) celebrated its tenth year of operation. To continue with its tradition of supporting and promoting post-secondary education and to improve the status of petroleum engineering expertise, the Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PTRC) 10th Anniversary Graduate Student Scholarship was established at the University of Regina to assist entering graduate students who wish to pursue a Master's or Doctoral program at the University of Regina in Petroleum Systems Engineering.

Eligibility

The scholarship will be awarded to entering (1st, 2nd or 3rd semester) graduate students who meet the following criteria:
- Preference will be given to applicants who have received their Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Regina or Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan;
- Undergraduate focus of study should have included Petroleum, Environmental, Chemical or Geological Engineering;
- Accepted as a fully-qualified graduate student;
- Beginning a Master's or Doctoral program in Petroleum Systems Engineering;
- Minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 80%; and
- mMust be registered full-time (minimum 6 credit hours) in the semester the award is presented.

Note 1: It is the Donor's intent to produce a scholarship that will be presented to a student with an 80% or higher cumulative grade point average and when determining the most worthy student recipient, consideration will be given to the detailed academic background of the student, appropriate professional activities and evidence of other financial support already received.

Note 2: Regarding the first bullet, if no applicant has either of the degrees described, but who otherwise matches the criteria stated in the other bullets, the University may also consider, in order: an applicant entering a PSE-PhD program who has completed a Master's degree from a Saskatchewan university (regardless of the nature of the undergraduate work), or an applicant who has completed an appropriate undergraduate degree in science or engineering at a Canadian university and is entering a PSE Master's or PhD program at the University of Regina.

IMPORTANT: If you are an entrance student with no grades yet at the U of R, in addition to the unofficial transcript found in UR Self Service or the official transcript from MyCreds, you MUST also provide a copy of your last institution transcript along with the grading key in order to be considered. You must combine these documents into one and upload them.
