Internal Scholarships
The Dr. Naiyer Habib and Mrs. Mahlaqa Naushaba Habib: Pioneers of Community, Cardiology, and Health Scholarship was established in 2024 to create an endowed graduate scholarship in the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research at the University. Dr. Naiyer Habib headed cardiology over two decades in Regina, Saskatchewan. He was an academic and interventionist Cardiologist of repute and is recognized as a pioneer of Cardiology services in Regina.
Eligibility
The scholarship will be presented to a University of Regina graduate student who meets the following criteria:
- A student in their first year of studies (1st, 2nd or 3rd semester) in the MA/MSC in Aging Studies;
- Registered and remains registered in a minimum of 6 credit hours in the term the award is presented;
- Preference will be given to a student who demonstrates evidence of academic excellence.
Note: The Scholarship recipient will receive the book (Electronic or Print Edition) History of the Muslims of Regina, Saskatchewan, and Their Organizations authored by Naiyer Habib and Mahlaqa Naushaba Habib with the scholarship.
