  2. Read about the online application process.

  3. Apply online:

  • Apply using the online application portal and pay the $125 application fee.
  • The online portal will automatically log you out after 30 minutes. Please save frequently.
  • You can return to your application to complete an existing application, to start a new application or to check on the status of a submitted application. To return to your application, go to the online application portal and login with your application Email Address and Password.

Application Requirements

Note:  All documents submitted to the University of Regina become the property of the University, and will not be released or copied except for purposes deemed internal to the University of Regina. Documents will not be returned to the applicant.

Please do not send or upload any other documentation that is not required. Supply only the required documents. Extra documents (eg: high school transcripts, job offers, financial details, participation certificates, etc.) are not included in the review and may cause unnecessary delays.

Ensure the application and ALL supporting documents are uploaded to your online application document upload portal as soon as possible and, at the very latest, by the application deadline. Only complete applications with all required documents will be reviewed.

  1. A completed online application form: For applicants applying to more than one program, a new online application and accompanying fee is required for each program. All materials must be received on or before any deadline dates. Incomplete applications will not be forwarded to academic units for their recommendation.
  2. Transcripts: An official copy of all previous undergraduate and graduate transcripts is required even if a degree was not awarded. A transcript is considered official only if it is received in an envelope from the issuing university that is sealed and bears an official University stamp across the seal. Transcripts in languages other than English or French must be accompanied by a certified literal translation. If the transcript does not indicate that the degree was awarded, the degree certificate is to be included. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted through the online application document upload portal for the review process only. Any offer of admission will be conditional upon receipt of the official transcripts and/or degree certificate.

*WES ICAP course-by-course evaluation report is strongly recommended for international credentials, and is required for the program areas below for all international credentials (except for applicants who attended US institutions or Iranian publicly funded government institutions):

  • Computer Science
  • Education
  • Engineering and Applied Science
  • Kenneth Levene Graduate School of Business
  • Kinesiology and Health Studies

  1. Letters of Recommendation: At least two official letters of recommendation are to be from persons (academics, employers) who can critically assess the applicant's ability to do research and advanced courses, and cannot be a closely associated person or another current graduate student (e.g., family member, friend, educational consultant). You will be required to list your referee’s full name and provide a personal institutional email address for them while completing the application. Letters received from unverifiable email addresses are unofficial and will not be accepted. Official recommendation letters are to be submitted for each application and are considered official when:
    • Received from the secure email link sent from the application portal to referee's verifiable institutional email address,
    • Received on letterhead, in an envelope that is sealed and bears the referee's signature on the letter and across the seal of the envelope,
    • A filled out Letter of Recommendation form sent to Graddocs@uregina.ca from the referees' dedicated verifiable institutional email address.
    • Applications for Non-Degree program admission require only one letter of reference.

Note: Letter of Recommendation forms and/or letters forwarded to applicants in sealed envelopes with the referee’s signature across the seal of the envelope are confidential and must not be opened.

  1. A Resume and Letter of Intent outlining one’s purpose in applying to graduate studies. This is a required component of the online application. Please do not send paper copies of your resume and letter of intent if you have uploaded them to your online application document upload portal.
  2. Fee: a non-refundable fee of $125 (CAD) for ALL domestic and international applicants (subject to change) is to be paid online within the online application. The application will not be considered submitted until the fee has been paid.
  3. Test Scores: Official Test Scores (if applicable) must be forwarded to the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research by the testing centre. As necessary, FGSR will forward the information to relevant departments. A valid copy may be included with the application package.
    • Applicants to the MBA program must write the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).
  4. All Supplementary Materials specific to your program.

If you are applying for a Special Case program, read the Application Procedures for a Special Case Program.

Online Application Process

The online application takes about 30 minutes to complete.

The first time you access the online application, you will be asked to create a Login ID and Password. For security reasons, it is important that you choose a unique (hard-to-guess) password. Please make a note of your login information, as you will need it later.

Once you have started your application, you may choose to Save For Later. You can return to the application at any time by re-entering your Login E-mail Address and Password. However, you must complete it prior to the application deadline for your program.

Before you fill out the online application, you will need the following:
  • Personal information;
  • Agent, Proxy, or Third-Party information (if you want to designate a proxy or third party to act on your behalf);
  • Educational history of all higher post-secondary institutions attended, and dates attended. This includes institutions that you attended but no degree was awarded, and degrees that are in progress and have not yet been awarded;
  • English Proficiency test scores (if applicable);
  • Names and e-mail addresses of your references;
  • Letter of Intent. Please review "Most Common Mistake Applicants Make" before submitting your letter of intent;
  • Resume or CV;
  • Valid credit card (MasterCard, VISA, or American Express). Pre-paid credit cards and MasterCard Debit, VISA Debit or American Express Debit are not acceptable methods of payment; and
  • Valid e-mail address.

Please follow the instructions provided in each section of the application. If you have further questions, you may e-mail our office at grad.studies@uregina.ca.

Once you have completed all sections of the application and have verified that you entered your information correctly, click Finalize Application and Pay. You will be directed to the application fee payment screen where you can enter your credit card information. Please pay using either MasterCard, VISA, or American Express. Pre-paid credit cards and MasterCard Debit, VISA Debit or American Express Debit are not acceptable methods of payment. When you have paid the application fee, you will receive a receipt of payment by e-mail.

Note that the application is not complete until you’ve paid the application fee. The application fee is non-refundable. Incomplete applications are not forwarded to the departments for review.

You can check the status of your application at any time by logging back into your portal.

Application Status

You can check your application status at any time by doing the following:

Use your Login E-mail Address and Password used when submitting the application to check your application status throughout the process.

Look at your "Status" for each document in your portal's checklist. If a document is listed as "Awaiting", we are waiting to receive or verify documents. Your application is not complete. Incomplete applications will not be sent for review.

If your program has a deadline, all applications are held until shortly after the application deadline and the application status will read "Complete, Awaiting Deadline." Your application is complete and will be sent for review following the application deadline date.

Once you have submitted your application, there are a few steps that your application will go through:

  1. Faculty of Graduate Studies Review - Awaiting Materials. The Faculty of Graduate Studies will look at your application first to ensure you have all the documents required. This can take one to two weeks depending on the time of year.
  2. Faculty Review - Awaiting Decision. Your application will be forwarded to your faculty for review. All units are given forty-five days to review applications. Some units may take longer depending on the number of applications to review and time of year.
  3. Final Review - Awaiting Decision. The Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research is responsible to review the faculty's recommendations as the final step. This review typically takes three to seven days.
  4. Decision Made - Decided. The official decision letter is released to you within your application portal. An e-mail notice that the decision is available is sent to your preferred email address that you identified on your application form.
