Application Requirements
Note: All documents submitted to the University of Regina become the property of the University, and will not be released or copied except for purposes deemed internal to the University of Regina. Documents will not be returned to the applicant.
Please do not send or upload any other documentation that is not required. Supply only the required documents. Extra documents (eg: high school transcripts, job offers, financial details, participation certificates, etc.) are not included in the review and may cause unnecessary delays.
Ensure the application and ALL supporting documents are uploaded to your online application document upload portal as soon as possible and, at the very latest, by the application deadline. Only complete applications with all required documents will be reviewed.
- A completed online application form: For applicants applying to more than one program, a new online application and accompanying fee is required for each program. All materials must be received on or before any deadline dates. Incomplete applications will not be forwarded to academic units for their recommendation.
- Transcripts: An official copy of all previous undergraduate and graduate transcripts is required even if a degree was not awarded. A transcript is considered official only if it is received in an envelope from the issuing university that is sealed and bears an official University stamp across the seal. Transcripts in languages other than English or French must be accompanied by a certified literal translation. If the transcript does not indicate that the degree was awarded, the degree certificate is to be included. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted through the online application document upload portal for the review process only. Any offer of admission will be conditional upon receipt of the official transcripts and/or degree certificate.

You will be required to list your referee’s full name and provide a personal institutional email address for them while completing the application. Letters received from unverifiable email addresses are unofficial and will not be accepted. Official recommendation letters are to be submitted for each application and are considered official when:

- Received on letterhead, in an envelope that is sealed and bears the referee's signature on the letter and across the seal of the envelope,

Use your Login E-mail Address and Password used when submitting the application to check your application status throughout the process.
Look at your "Status" for each document in your portal's checklist. If a document is listed as "Awaiting", we are waiting to receive or verify documents. Your application is not complete. Incomplete applications will not be sent for review.
If your program has a deadline, all applications are held until shortly after the application deadline and the application status will read "Complete, Awaiting Deadline." Your application is complete and will be sent for review following the application deadline date.
Once you have submitted your application, there are a few steps that your application will go through:
- Faculty of Graduate Studies Review - Awaiting Materials. The Faculty of Graduate Studies will look at your application first to ensure you have all the documents required. This can take one to two weeks depending on the time of year.
- Faculty Review - Awaiting Decision. Your application will be forwarded to your faculty for review. All units are given forty-five days to review applications. Some units may take longer depending on the number of applications to review and time of year.
- Final Review - Awaiting Decision. The Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research is responsible to review the faculty's recommendations as the final step. This review typically takes three to seven days.
- Decision Made - Decided. The official decision letter is released to you within your application portal. An e-mail notice that the decision is available is sent to your preferred email address that you identified on your application form.
