2025 Centre on Aging and Health Brain Awareness Week Film Screening and Discussion: Robot and Frank

Please join us for the Centre on Aging and Health's annual event in support of Brain Awareness Week - a film screening of Sundance award-winning film, "Robot and Frank", followed by a discussion with audience participation led by Dr. Thomas Hadjistavropoulos.

Robot and Frank (2012) is a critically acclaimed Sundance Award-winning film about dementia and technology, starring Frank Langella and Susan Sarandon. In this compelling and humorous sci-fi drama set in the near future, a son purchases a robot butler to support the care of his aging ex-convict father who is experiencing dementia and cognitive decline. However, when his father discovers that the robot cannot decipher between legal and illegal activities, he begins to use the robot to commit heists together.

Discussion with audience participation will follow the screening. Discussant Dr. Thomas Hadjistavropoulos, Research Chair in Aging and Health and Professor of Psychology at the University of Regina, will lead a discussion on the potential role of technology in improving the quality of life for people with dementia.

The event will take place on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 6:30pm in the La Cité Theatre (CT 215) on the University of Regina's main campus, 3737 Wascana Parkway.
