Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Welcome - Bienvenue!

The Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Office celebrates the diversity of the University of Regina campus community and is a space where we model and advocate for Equity and Inclusion.

We view Diversity as a strength and as an essential component of academic excellence.

The Mandate of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Office aligns with University of Regina’s strategic plan,  All Our Relations, ‘ kahkiyaw kiwâhkômâkaninawak’ and  is founded on the institution’s core values of Mutual Respect, Integrity and Honesty.

The University’s leadership team and the campus community are dedicated to actively cultivating and collaborating on EDI initiatives to make the campus a welcoming, equitable and inclusive space for all members.

As the University of Regina continues on its path toward Reconciliation, we have a collective responsibility to walk together in a good way. With students, faculty, and staff from more than 100 countries on our campuses, each day we have meaningful opportunities to recognize each others’ unique talents and gifts, and ensure that everyone is welcomed and treated equitably, fairly, and respectfully. When we value diversity while at the same time finding common ground in our lives and work, we can make the University the most inclusive environment possible – a place where we can all go far, together. — Jeff Keshen, President and Vice-Chancellor

What Equity, Diversity and Inclusion means for us:

  • Equity: The promotion of fairness and justice for all in the context of the systemic and structural inequities.
  • Diversity: Diversity includes all intersectional identities; visible and invisible. Diversity includes and is not limited to ethnicity, cultural groups, abilities, socio-economic status, political groups, diverse religious and personal beliefs, sexual and gender identities.
  • Inclusion: Removal of barriers, both structural and systemic, enabling all members on campus to fully engage and participate in campus activities, fostering a sense of belonging and value.

Diversity Calendar Resources

December Resources

As the year ends, we are grateful for the freedoms we enjoy, even as we acknowledge that not everyone feels safe, valued, or included. The theme for Human Rights Day 2024, Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now, calls us to remember past injustices while recommitting to addressing them in the present. Together, we must work towards creating a world that fosters healing and restoration through safe spaces.

November Resources

This November marks an important time for both reflection and action, as the month’s observances emphasize our shared dedication to awareness, justice, and advocacy. It serves as a call to engage with critical issues affecting our community.

October Resources

October marks the Healthy Workplace Month and reminds us to pause amid our busy lives and focus on social connections, taking care of ourselves and strengthening resilience. A healthy workplace is not only safe but also free from bullying. We encourage everyone to raise awareness and act against workplace bullying, a global issue that affects many. Moreover, healthy workplaces celebrate diverse social identities, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds. In honor of Women’s History Month, we recognize the significant contributions women have made throughout history while also addressing the ongoing challenges they face today.

The University of Regina was thrilled to display the exhibition in March 2024 at the U of R campus. The project was supported and funded by the USASK Student Wellness Centre, Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan, and SaskCulture.
