The University of Regina’s (U of R) Centre for Continuing Education is excited to announce the expansion of its in-demand Project Management Certificate program to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, starting in Spring 2025. This initiative aims to give individuals and businesses in the P.A. area the opportunity to explore this career field and advance their project management skills close to home.

Why Prince Albert?

Prince Albert is a growing economic hub in Northern Saskatchewan which has seen increased demand for skilled project management professionals across various sectors including healthcare, construction, natural resources and government services making it an ideal location to offer this training.

About the Project Management Certificate

The U of R Project Management Certificate is taught by some of Saskatchewan’s leading experts who come from various industries. Our program was specifically designed by our instructors to ensure the highest quality and most valuable training for students. This program follows industry best practices and aligns with the globally recognized Project Management Institute (PMI®) framework allowing students to use the Certificate toward PMI certifications. This Certificate makes students well-prepared to pursue the Project Management Professional (PMP®) certification, enhancing their job prospects in a competitive job market.

Course Requirements

The Certificate has seven required knowledge areas:

  1. Fundamental Project Management Principles
  2. Project Planning & Scheduling
  3. Project Value Management
  4. Project Risk and Uncertainty Management
  5. Project Quality Processes and Management
  6. Stakeholder, Team and Communication Performance
  7. Project Management Practicum

Each course provides a wealth of knowledge and skills on a variety of topics which will make you well-rounded in your ability to work on projects of varying size and complexity setting you up for success in this field.

Meet Instructor Shari Hildred

The in-person courses will be taught by Prince Albert local Shari Hildred who has 20 years of project management experience in the private, public and non-profit sectors. Shari is a certified PMP®, studied Cultural Resource Management at the University of Victoria and completed the Art of the Executive Leader training at Banff Centre for the Arts. She also studied Public Policy at the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy and has completed Gender-Based Analysis+ training. She has delivered customized training for many organizations including the Public Services Commission, the Ministries of Health, Economy, Agriculture and Education, as well as SaskPower, the RCMP and the Red Circle Planning Group.
