Conservatory Musical Theatre Showcase - Day 2

Get ready for three days of singing, dancing, and performing at the Conservatory Musical Theatre Showcase. Students from the University of Regina Conservatory of Performing Arts’ youth musical theatre programs are sure to dazzle and delight the audience with their triple threat status.

Performances on DAY 2 will include the following (in performance order):

Senior Glee (Saturday class) presents DISNEY’S FROZEN KIDS.

Do you want to build a snowman? You’ll love this fanciful and heartwarming 30-minute stage adaptation of the celebrated animated film. Join Anna, Elsa, Olaf, Sven, and all your favorite characters as they embark on an epic, ice-filled journey of self-discovery, camaraderie, and the real meaning of true love. The musical includes favorite Frozen songs such as “Love Is an Open Door,” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?,” and “Let It Go,” as well as wonderful new songs from the Broadway production. This production of Frozen KIDS is sure to prove that “some people are worth melting for.” Music and Lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez & Robert Lopez. Book by Jennifer Lee. Based on the Disney film written by Jennifer Lee and directed by Chris Buck & Jennifer Lee.

Advanced Glee (Saturday class) presents ROCK OF AGES: YOUTH EDITION.

Set on L.A.'s famous Sunset Strip in 1987, this musical tells the story of Drew, a city boy from South Detroit, and Sherrie, a small-town girl, who have both travelled to L.A. to chase their dreams of making it big and falling in love. This classic love story is set against the troubles at the Dupree Room, a “legendary temple of rock 'n' roll excellence” under threat by developers of being torn down and replaced with a strip mall. The threats of closure bring legendary rocker Stacee Jaxx to town, and an opportunity for Drew to chase his dream to rock out with the best. Can the Dupree Room be saved before it's too late? Book by Chris D’Arienzo. Arrangements and Orchestrations by Ethan Popp.

Both groups are directed by Karen Rose with assistance from Joseph Shane McLellan. There will be an intermission between Senior Glee and Advanced Glee to reset the stage.
