Conservatory Group Program Showcase - Day 1
The Conservatory Group Program Showcase is a multi-day event with performances including music, dance, and theatre. The event showcases both youth and adult students studying at the University of Regina Conservatory of Performing Arts.
Performances for DAY 1 will include the following (in performance order):
The Conservatory Prairie Kids Chorus
The Conservatory Prairie Kids Chorus Junior & Intermediate Choir is a levelled choir for young musicians discovering the joys of singing together.
Our Junior and Intermediate choirs (ages 5-13) will be presenting a short selection of traditional and contemporary choral repertoire. The choir is directed by Allison Luff, with collaboration and accompaniment by Valerie Hall.
The Conservatory Youth String Orchestra
The Conservatory Youth String Orchestra gives young string players ages 8-12 their first experience with independent part playing.
Our violin and cello students will be presenting a variety of classical, folk, and pop pieces. This orchestra is directed by Alaina Majewski with assistance from Katherine Achtzehner.
Our Contemporary Dance classes help adult learners focus on retraining the way they see and use their bodies, developing good alignment, posture, and core strength, whilst integrating grace, confidence, and presence. This performance is led by dancer and choreographer Karen Rose.
There will be a short break between the Prairie Kids Chorus and Youth String Orchestra to briefly reset the stage, then a longer intermission between Youth String Orchestra and Contemporary Dance to clear and clean the stage before the dance performance.
