UR Gap Year Program
Are you planning to work, travel, or volunteer next year? If so, we’ll save your spot for one year! The UR Gap Year Program allows current high school students to take a year off in between high school and coming to the University of Regina. By indicating that you’d like to be a part of the UR Gap Year Program, we will defer your admission as well as any automatic entrance scholarships* funded by the University of Regina you have qualified for. During the year, you’ll also be able to take advantage of many services to help you stay connected with the University and prepare you for your first year of study or future career options.
You are eligible to take part in the UR Gap Year Program if you meet the following criteria:
- Must be entering the University directly from a Canadian high school
- Admitted to a direct-entry undergraduate program (Nursing students are not eligible).
- Will not be attending another postsecondary institution during the Gap Year. Students who plan to pursue studies at non-accredited institutions (such as Bible Colleges) may be considered.
* Eligible Automatic Entrance Scholarships are U of R Entrance Scholarship, Faculty of Business Administration Excellence Program Entrance Scholarship, and the Out-of-Province Entrance Scholarship. If students decide to return before the following Fall term (ie: Winter term), the scholarship amount is pro-rated (one-half) of the regular amount.
You can apply for a Gap Year through your applicant portal here: https://apply.uregina.ca/portal/app_status. Click on the “Request Gap Year” link below your application details in the portal. You will first need to accept your offer before this option appears.
