Planning to Work, Travel or Volunteer Next Year?

If so, we'll save your spot for one year! The UR Gap Year Program allows current high school students to take a year off between high school and coming to the University of Regina. By indicating that you'd like to be a part of the UR Gap Year Program, we will defer your admission as well as any automatic entrance scholarships* funded by the University of Regina that you have qualified for. During the year, you'll also be able to take advantage of many services to help you stay connected with the University and prepare you for your first year of study or future career options! Some of the other additional services include access to:

  • Career Centre
  • ta-tawâw Student Centre
  • Student Success Centre
  • Centre for Student Accessibility
  • Academic Advising

*Eligible Automatic Entrance Scholarships are U of R Entrance Scholarships, Faculty of Business Administration Excellence Program Entrance Scholarship, and the Out-of-Province Entrance Scholarship. If students decide to return before the following Fall term (i.e.: Winter term), the scholarship amount is pro-rated (one-half) of the regular amount.

You are eligible to take part in the UR Gap Year Program if you meet the following criteria:

  • Must be entering the University directly from a Canadian high school
  • Admitted to an undergraduate program (Nursing students are not eligible.)
  • Will not be attending another post-secondary institution during the Gap Year. Students who plan to pursue studies at non-accredited institutions (such as Bible Colleges) may be considered
  • Have submitted the necessary form by August 31
