Tonight was not the night for an offensive duel ... the mightly D was stingy on both sides of the diamond. The first four innings were scoreless for both teams. In the top of the fifth, the Sluggers D made short order of MYOB allowing a double follow by three consecutive outs. In the bottom of the fifth, the floodgates were opened: TNT put four big ones on the board. Not to be outdone the other guys tallied four of their own. In the bottom of 6 the winning run was scored by a new recuit: Sarah. With a three up three down top of the seventh, the game was a convincing second win for the TNT Sluggers.
On the injury front, yours truly twisted his knee pretty good making a play on second base. I'll problably play tomorrow but it has swelled quite a bit. Sarah wasn't to mobile either so the victory was not without its price.
In my mind, this game was the pinnacle of softball. Our heart, fight, and determination to follow through on all the plays made the difference. Perhaps this will be shown to be the turning point of the season ... call Global, this is the week the Sluggers went pro!!! (even if we don't have the jerseys yet).
