Zoom Drop-in Advising
Zoom drop-in advising is available every week day on a rotating schedule (excluding Statutory Holidays and University closures). Please refer to the table above regarding the Zoom drop-in advising schedule. Clicking either "Morning Zoom" or "Afternoon Zoom" for the appropriate day and time session will take you to the waiting room - no password required! You will be admitted to the waiting room and given access to speak to the advisor on an individual and confidential basis in the order you were admitted to the waiting room (length of wait depends on number of people ahead of you). If you join the Zoom waiting room during the scheduled advising times, you will be seen – even if we are unable to assist you until after the posted end time of the session. You will be notified in the Zoom chat if there is an exception to this.
Please note that in order to be admitted to the advising room from the waiting room, your display name must include your UofR Student ID Number and First Name. If you have already joined the waiting room without setting your display name, you will need to leave the meeting, re-enter the meeting details, and change your display name before clicking "Join" to be taken to the waiting room. Unfortunately, Zoom will not allow users to change their display names from within the waiting room at this time. If you are unsure of your UofR Student ID Number, you can find this info in your UR Self Service account under "Student", then "Student Profile". If you are unable to find your Student ID Number within your UR Self Service account, feel free to contact our office for further support.
In-Person Drop-in Advising
In-person drop-in advising is available every week day on a rotating schedule (excluding Statutory Holidays and University closures). Please refer to the table above regarding the in-person advising schedule. Students seeking in-person advising may check in at RC 230 (SSC Front Desk on the second floor of the Riddell Centre). Students are given access to speak to the advisor on an individual and confidential basis in the order you checked in (length of wait depends on number of people ahead of you). If you check in during the scheduled advising times, you will be seen – even if we are unable to assist you until after the posted end time of the session. You will be notified in the waiting room if there is an exception to this.
