H. N. Gupta Memorial Lecture
The Dr. H. N. Gupta Memorial Lecture is an annual lecture series in memory of Professor Haragauri Narayan Gupta who joined the Regina Campus of the University of Saskatchewan in 1966, now known as the University of Regina, and where he remained for the remainder of his career. Professor Gupta was a valued member of the department who made lasting contributions to mathematics and an exceptional mentor to young researchers. Professor Gupta died on September 26, 2016 in Waterloo, Ontario, at the age of 91.
Once per year the Department of Mathematics and Statistics will host a prestigious researcher to present the Dr. H. N. Gupta Memorial Lecture. The lecture topic is to be of general interest and accessible to graduate students, undergraduate students, and other members of academic community. Topics that relate mathematics to the subjects of Philosophy or Science are especially welcomed. In addition, there will be opportunities to engage the lecturer before and after the lecture to encourage interaction and exposure to all students and faculty in the department.
