Outreach Activities and Math Education
The Department organizes and hosts a variety of mathematical enrichment activities for young people. Members of the Department regularly participate in Mathematics Outreach at schools and libraries as well as participating in Treaty 4 Days in Fort Qu'Appelle. Every year the Canadian Kangaroo Mathematics Contest is hosted annually on campus. Also we work with high school Mathematics Teachers to help prepare Grade 12 students for the University experience.
Math Central is an online resource for students and Math Teachers of all ages and is offered in English, French and Spanish.
Canadian Mathematics Kangaroo Contest
The Canadian Math Kangaroo Contest is an annual national mathematics competition for students in Grades 1 to 12 and is co-sponsored by the University of Regina and the Canadian Mathematical Society.
2025 Kangaroo Contest Details
Date: Sunday, March 23, 2025, 10:00 a.m. Sign-in begins at 9:30 a.m. in Classroom Building CL 110.
Registration: Visit Canadian Math Kangaroo Contest to register for the contest. Note that there is no on-site registration, you must register at the central website prior to the registration deadline to participate.
Registration Deadline: 'February 24, 2025
Registration Fee: $20 (if registered by February 10), $25 (if registered between February 11- February 24).
Contest Rules: For the 2025 Math Kangaroo Contest, students have the choice to write the contest either online or in-person. For details of the contest rules, visit 2025 Math Kangaroo Contest Details.

High School Class Visit Request
These visits are intended for students planning to attend university in the next year. Please complete this form to request a tour for your high school class. Your class visit to the department will include:
- Participation in a first year Mathematics, Statistics, or Actuarial Science Course
- A campus tour
- Possibly other activities

Math Central is a multilingual internet-based resource for teachers and students of mathematics. Under the direction of Dr. Harley Weston, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics. Math Central has earned several awards, including the Study Sphere Award of Excellence.
