Chemistry Student Wins Poster Award at the CSC
Congratulations to Jessica Ollinik, who is working on her Ph.D. in Chemistry with Dr. Renata Raina-Fulton, won the first place graduate student poster award from the Analytical Chemistry division of the Chemical Institute of Canada at the CSC 2024 in Winnipeg!

107th Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition (CSC)
The 107th Canadian Chemistry Conference and Exhibition (CSC) will be held from June 2nd to the 6th in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Many of our research groups and graduate students will be attending the conference and presenting on their research. Dr. Allan East is also chairing a session on Ion Solvation at the conference.

Your Assignment: combine curiosity-based research, creativity, and technology
Dr. Omar El-Halfawy, Assistant Professor of Biochemistry and Canada Research Chair in Chemogenomics and Antimicrobial Research, was featured on the University of Regina Main Page about his innovative multimedia based assignment in his BIOC390 course, which had students creating videos explaining biochemistry concepts aimed at Grade 10 students.

Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Tours BASF Regina
These are two photos from a Nov. 20, 2023 class trip to BASF Regina, organized by Prof. Stephen Cheng for his Industrial Chemistry class. BASF Regina makes blends of agricultural products for Saskatchewan farmers, particularly herbicides for canola crops. Several professors, instructors, and additional students tagged along for the fun trip. The 2 hour tour of their facilities was broken into two groups, led by two BASF employees (Greg and Nicole, photographed with Prof. Allan East) who graduated from our Chemistry and Biochemistry department roughly 10 and 15 years ago, respectively.
