Biography of Glenys Sylvestre, Chief Governance Officer
Glenys Sylvestre is Chief Governance Officer and University Secretary at the University of Regina, and began in this role in January 2016. Prior to this appointment, she served as an Instructor (accounting) with the Faculty of Business Administration at the University of Regina for over 15 years. She also served the Faculty as Academic Co-op Coordinator, Executive Lead (Accreditation), as well as Associate Dean (Undergraduate) from 2007 – 2012.
Ms. Sylvestre was raised in Allan, Saskatchewan. She is a University of Regina alumna, graduating with a B.Admin. degree in 1994. She is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), and was awarded Fellowship in 2007. Glenys completed her term of service as a professional accountant with Deloitte & Touche in Regina. She served for six years as a Councilor with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Saskatchewan, including service as President and Chair. Ms. Sylvestre also obtained the Chartered Director (C.Dir.) designation in 2011, and now delivers governance training for Director’s College related to financial and risk oversight
Glenys has served on several Regina community boards including Regina Exhibition Association Limited (Evraz Place), Gymnastics Saskatchewan, Regina Piranhas Summer Swim Club, Queen City Kinsmen Gymnastics Club, and Arcola East Community Association. She served on the Board of Directors of SaskTel from 2007 – 2023 and was Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee, and the Environment and Human Resources Committee during her tenure. She currently serves on the Board of 3SHealth.
