Biography of John D. Smith, Associate Vice-President (Student Affairs)
John D. Smith is the Associate Vice-President (Student Affairs) at the University of Regina. His primary portfolio consists of Enrolment Services, Student Success, Student Affairs Operations, the Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Office and the Student Conduct Office.
John has a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration with a specialization in Student Development from the University of Arizona, and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the College of the Ozarks in Missouri. Prior to joining the University of Regina, he served as the Director of Admissions and Recruitment and the Coordinator of Academic Advising at Lakehead University, as well as various student support roles at Red River College, Pima Community College, the University of Arizona and Mount Royal College.
Prior to returning to school to focus on a career in Higher Education, John was a small business owner, and trained staff and management for restaurant companies across Canada and the United States.
