Fall Convocation Highlights

This fall convocation marked a significant moment in the lives of university students who successfully completed their degrees, especially for those enrolled in the SCBScN and After Degree Nursing Program. This was a special occasion that demonstrated their determination, resilience, and unwavering commitment as they faced their academic journey amid a global pandemic. Their stories showcased their dedication and adaptability, dealing with a continuously changing work environment while pursuing their degrees.

The standout feature of this convocation was the remarkable number of After Degree Nursing Students who completed the SCBScN program. An impressive 18 students earned their second degree, having previously worked in different fields. They transitioned from established careers to full-time student life, showing great determination in following their passion for nursing.

This fall convocation also saw 18 graduates achieving Program Grade Point Averages (PGPAs) of 80.00% or higher. This achievement was noteworthy given the demanding nature of the SCBScN and After Degree Nursing Program, which is known for its academic challenges.mildstone_3.jpg

Since its inception in 2011, the Faculty of Nursing and the School of Nursing have contributed to the education of 2,458 Registered Nurses. Among these graduates, 762 completed their programs in the early August term, demonstrating the institutions' commitment to producing well-prepared nursing professionals.

During the convocation, three exceptional graduates were recognized with awards. Jaimee Dowdeswell received the Dr. Sheila Dresen Prize in Nursing and the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan Gold Medal for Excellence in Clinical Practice, acknowledging her outstanding academic achievements and commitment to clinical practice. Hannah Gutting received the Faculty of Nursing and School of Nursing, Dean's Medal, a nomination for the university-wide President's Medal. This award celebrated her academic excellence and significant contributions to extracurricular activities during her time at the University of Regina.

The 2023 fall convocation was a moment of pride and celebration for the graduates of the SCBScN and After Degree Nursing Program. Their journey showcased resilience, academic excellence, and a deep commitment to the nursing profession. The Faculty of Nursing at the University of Regina and the School of Nursing at Saskatchewan Polytechnic celebrated these accomplishments, knowing that the future of nursing is in capable hands.
