Safety for Supervisors
Safety for Supervisors
The University of Regina maintains its commitment to the legal, moral and ethical responsibility of providing a safe learning and work environment for members of our campus community. A part of this commitment includes compliance with Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety legislation, and to ensure that all formal leaders on our campuses understand their role and responsibilities.
During each academic term (unless otherwise stated) Health and Safety (Human Resources) will be offering the Safety for Supervisors course.
Under the Saskatchewan Employment Act, a supervisor is defined as a person who is authorized, by an employer, to oversee or direct the work of the employer’s workers, and more specifically to the University, direct the learning activities of our students. The Safety for Supervisors course introduces supervisors to the University of Regina Health and Safety Management System (HSMS) which assists in meeting these obligations and their legal health and safety responsibilities. When supervisors effectively use all aspects of the HSMS, they not only meet their legal due diligence responsibilities, it also strengthens the overall safety culture of the areas they supervise.
This interactive in-person course for supervisors is 3.5 hours in length and requires approximately one hour of work prior to the course. A certificate of completion will be issued to each participant after completing the course.
Please watch your email for the announcement of the Safety for Supervisors course dates and times being offered during the Winter 2025 term. Each course has a maximum of 20 participants.
Thank you for keeping our campuses a safe place to learn, work, and live.
