About Ben

With over 20 years of higher education teaching experience, Ben Halsall is a seasoned educator specializing in digital studio tools and professional creative software. Ben’s professional practice incorporates video, design and online teaching. He brings his experience of working as an artist, creative and influencer into the higher education space designing innovative teaching methods to engage and prepare students for their careers.

Ben is interested in both teaching and course development within the program. He has been involved in developing and designing online courses ensuring they align with program objectives. These courses offer students flexibility in the way they study and, in turn, develops skills that will be invaluable in the creative industries.

In his professional practice Ben harnesses online spaces to build communities of learners. Ben is an expert with Final Cut Pro and the Adobe Creative Cloud and has worked over a number of years to develop a significant following on platforms like YouTube. A professional understanding of these contemporary spaces is something that Ben has stitched into the delivery of courses like Introduction to Digital Studio Tools and Video Hack with the aim of preparing students for new ways of working.

Ben regularly works with artists and educators as a consultant, designer and video specialist. Projects in which he has been involved have exhibited in Regina, Kelowna, Ottawa and internationally. He is currently working on how artists and creatives can utilize AI in video.
