Dr. Rebecca Genoe

Rebecca Genoe is a professor in the Therapeutic Recreation program. Her research interests lie in the area of aging and leisure. The goal of her research program is to explore leisure’s role in later life transitions. More specifically, she is interested in understanding the role of leisure in the lives of older people who are living with dementia and chronic illness; the transition to retirement; and Therapeutic Recreation in long-term care. As a qualitative researcher, she takes a constructivist lens to her research to explore older adults’ experiences from their perspectives. Rebecca’s research has been funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Council and the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation. Rebecca teaches several undergraduate courses within the Therapeutic Recreation major, along with graduate research methods. She is actively involved with the TR profession in Saskatchewan, and values making connections with practitioners. Rebecca enjoys snowshoeing and reading fiction.
