File Sharing, Management, and Network Drives

M365 Collaboration Tools for File Management, Sharing and Storage

Network Drives

  • Network Drives that were in use before the move to M365 are still available,
  • The existing network drive letters, such as T:\, O:\, L:\, P:\, etc., remain in place and regular backups of data continues.
  • Pre-existing files and folders were moved over to new Windows servers.
  • Access is through login on a UofR-owned managed computer or lab system, and drives will show in your folder list.
  • On personal or unmanaged computers/devices, you need to map the new folders using CIFS.

NOTE: FILR, Webdrive, OES client, and Kanaka are no longer options for accessing network drives.

Network Drives Directory Permissions Portal

  • A Network Drive Directory Permissions Portal is available for authorized employees to add/remove access for others.
  • Users need to already have Full Access Control to the folder they want to modify in order to use this portal.
  • If Full Access Control is needed for a network folder, an account request ticket would be needed as usual.
  • Administrators can request access to use this portal by submitting a ticket to the IS Service Desk.
