Moving in residence for the first time can be nerve-wracking, right? Don’t sweat it! Think of this guide as your ultimate cheat sheet for rocking your residence experience.

Before you Arrive
Once you received your letter of offer, there are just a few more steps before you can officially move in and start making memories.

- Sign your Residence Contract
What is a Residence Contract?
Your Residence Contract is a legal document that outlines the responsibilities of the University and the student who agrees to live in residence. You cannot move into residence unless you sign your residence contract. Contracts will be available to sign electronically in the Housing Services Portal starting one month before the term move-in date.
Residents who are under 18 at the time of signing their contract, are required to have a legal guardian co-sign their contract.

Planning to Arrive Early?
We accept early arrivals up to seven days before your check in date. If your room is not available, we will locate you in a temporary room until your room is ready. For those students that need housing more than seven days ahead of their check-in date, please reach out to our Hospitality Services team or seek alternative arrangements to book a short stay. Early arrivals are approved based on availability and are subject to a $35/day fee.
To request an early arrival, please submit an Early Arrival form on your Housing Services Portal.
Please submit your early arrival request by the dates indicated below. Requests submitted after these dates are not guaranteed:
- Spring & Summer: April 1
- Fall & Winter: August 1
- Winter: December 1
Seeking Special Accommodations?
When you Move-in
We are excited to welcome you to residence. Upon your arrival, please be prepared to follow these general move-in steps to start your journey off right:
- Arrive at the University of Regina campus.
- Visit the Kīšik Towers desk to receive your keys. The Housing and Hospitality Services team will be happy to assist you, including after hours.
- Pick up your key package, which includes your room key, building key, and mail key.
- Start moving in your belongings. The Kīšik Towers desk will have carts available for your move-in.
*Please note: Move-in processes may vary depending on the time of year. Be sure to check your email for important move-in details.
What to Bring?
- Your school supplies (pens, pencils, books, backpack etc.)
- Personal hygiene products
- Towels and face cloths
- Toilet paper, tissue boxes, and plunger
- Laundry basket and detergent/dryer sheets etc.
- Pillows, blankets, twin extra-long bedding (bedding packages will be available to rent or purchase on arrival)
- Appropriate winter gear (hats, mittens, jacket) for Fall & Winter term
- Cleaning supplies (cleaning solution and disinfectant wipes)
- Dishes, cutlery, mugs, water bottle (make sure it is microwave safe!)
- Health card, drivers license, passport, and other forms of identification
- The following items are not permitted in bedrooms/dorm-style rooms: small cooking appliances like rice cookers, mixers, slow cooker, toasters, instant pots, air fryers, etc.
- Face mask and hand sanitizer
- Headphones
- Clothing hangers
- Mattress topper
- Personal fan
- Power bar (with surge protection)
- Storage bins/containers
- Snacks
- Pictures
- Personal laptop
- Personal first aid kit
- Kettle (with an automatic shut-off feature)
- Small house plants
- Water Filter
- Candles or incense
- Personal heaters
- Large furniture
- Microwaves (provided in all rooms)
- Mattresses (mattress toppers are allowed)
- Large speakers, sub-woofers, or amplifiers
- Routers, wi-fi boosters, extenders, etc.
- Satellite dishes
- Explosives
- Harmful chemicals and flammable liquids
- Firearms and weapons (including pellet guns, bb guns, bow and arrows, hunting/exotic knives, swords, or any other items consider by Housing and Hospitality Services to be dangerous)
- Large appliances and gym equipment (treadmill, full sized fridges, deep freezers, dishwashers, washing machines etc.)
- Illegal drugs
- Pets (except non-dangerous pet fish in a tank no larger than 10 gallons)
- Vaporizers, vapes, e-cigarettes, hookahs, tobacco/marijuana products, bongs, etc.
- Propane tank/bunsen burners, hot plates
- Items or games that encourage excessive alcohol consumption.

Getting mail from a loved one? Setting your mailing address? We have an address for that. Each resident is assigned their own mailbox and mailing address. Awlays state you mail addressed as follows:
