Health and Safety Online Safety Courses

To register for any of our online safety courses listed below, complete the Safety Course Registration Form at the bottom of this page.

  1. Biomedical Safety
  2. UofR Emergency Warden
  3. Exposure Control
  4. Lab Safety for Facilities Management (FM) Workers and Contractors
  5. Sealed Source: Radiation Safety
  6. Consumable Radiation Safety
  7. Safety for Protective Services and First Responders
  8. Teaching Assistant (Modules 1 & 2)
  9. WHMIS (LAB) - for students
  10. WHMIS in the Workplace - for staff
  11. Chemical & Lab Safety (mandatory in-person workshop)*
  12. Biosafety Awareness (mandatory in-person workshop)**

*Participants registered for the Chemical & Lab Safety (CLS) safety course, must successfully complete the online course (UR Courses) to be eligible to register for a CLS mandatory in-person workshop (WHMIS exam included). 

CLS mandatory in-person workshops have a maximum of ten (10) participantsThe Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering & Applied Science, and Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies encourage participants to successfully complete the CLS online course and mandatory in-person workshop as soon as possible. 

Failure to do so may result in being denied access to teaching and research space(s) that require the completion of the Chemical & Lab Safety course.

Information on how to register for a mandatory in-person CLS workshop will be provided to participants on the CLS course (UR Courses).

**Participants registered for both Chemical & Lab Safety (CLS) and Biosafety Awareness safety courses, must successfully complete both online courses (UR Courses) and have successfully completed a mandatory in-person CLS workshop to be eligible to register for a mandatory in-person Biosafety Awareness workshop

Biosafety Awareness workshops have a maximum of six (6) participantsThe Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering & Applied Science, and Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies encourage participants to successfully complete the online courses and mandatory workshops for Chemical & Lab Safety and Biosafety Awareness as soon as possible. 

Failure to do so may result in being denied access to teaching and research space(s) that require the completion of Chemical & Lab Safety and Biosafety Awareness courses.

Information on how to register for a mandatory Biosafety Awareness workshop will be provided to participants on the Biosafety Awareness/CLS courses (UR Courses).


Safety course(s) registration information is sent only to official U of R email addresses.

Chemical & Lab Safety Mandatory Workshops

To be eligible to register for a CLS mandatory workshop,  participants must:

• Successfully complete the online Chemical & Lab Safety (CLS) course

AFTER successfully completing the online CLS course, please email health.safety@uregina.ca with your choice of CLS mandatory in-person workshop date.  PLEASE INCLUDE:

a)  First and Last Name
b)  Faculty or Department
c)  Student/Employee ID# (if known)
d)  Date of requested CLS workshop
e)  Name of Supervisor

NOTE:  Mandatory workshop email requests must be submitted to health.safety@uregina.ca 24 hours prior to the CLS workshop date.

*Workshops cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control and/or low enrollment will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
Biosafety Awareness Mandatory Workshops

To be eligible to register for a Biosafety Awareness mandatory workshop, participants must have:

• Successfully completed BOTH online courses for Chemical & Lab Safety (CLS) and Biosafety Awareness.
• Successfuly completed a Chemical & Lab Safety mandatory workshop.

AFTER successfully completing a mandatory CLS workshop, please email health.safety@uregina.ca with your choice of Biosafety Awareness mandatory in-person workshop date.  PLEASE INCLUDE:

a)  First and Last Name
b)  Faculty or Department
c)  Student/Employee ID# (if known)
d)  Date of the requested Biosafety Awareness workshop
e)  Name of Supervisor

NOTE:  Mandatory workshop email requests must be submitted to health.safety@uregina.ca 24 hours prior to the Biosafety Awareness workshop date.

Biosafety Awareness mandatory workshops have a maximum of six (6) participants.  Registered participants for a Biosafety Awareness workshop are asked to bring their laptop and/or phone to the workshop.  Participants will have 30 minutes during the `workshop to successfully complete (minimum passing grade is 80%) the Hazard Identification Assignment and Autoclave Quiz (UR Courses).


The Faculty of Science, Faculty of Engineering & Applied Science, and Faculty of Kinesiology & Health Studies encourages students to successfully complete Chemical & Lab Safety and Biosafety Awareness safety courses and workshops as soon as possible.  Failure to do so may result in being denied access to teaching and research space(s) that require the completion of Chemical & Lab Safety and Biosafety Awareness courses.
